Cool, I can't wait to get mine installed!

On another note, did you install your STS yourself? If so, how difficult of an install was it? How long did it take you? Did you have to drop the tranny any? I'm trying to figure out whether this is a DIY project or whether I'll have to pay a shop to do it.

No, I didn't, I had it in for some service and had the dealer install it with some other goodies, I just figured it would save me time, in the end we got snowed in and bad weather, so it took longer than I wanted. Returned overseas before I could drive it again...

I might consider the dealer if their charge is not outrageous compared to a local performance shop. If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge you just for the STS install. You can PM me if you'd rather not reveal it publicly. Since mine is the complete assembly. they'll probably charge more, but I'd like to get a ball-park figure.

It sucks that you didn't get to drive it...

It was included in a bunch of stuff I had completed, so I don't know. Must folks that have done it themselves say about 1-3hrs. There are several good videos out on the hurst website and youtube...check them out, they help!

Thanks, since mine is a 2011 you simply had to pull it up to remove the factory knob.

Since I was replacing the whole assembly, however, I took it to a local performance shop for the install. I paid for 2 hours of labor @ $90/hr. I love the new shifter:

How can you tell if the previous owner installed it or not?
What's the stock height of the shifter?

I did this on my RX8.
One of the RX8 forum members was an engineer and had a machine shop and basically found out a way to create a shorter throw shifter.
It doesn't look like it's that easy here.
Looks like a complicated R&R.

SHIFTER HANDLE

Just had my Hurst Billet Plus 2 short throw installed with extreme Pit Pack bushing.
I used the Classic White Knob that came with the kit.
I should have installed this a long time ago.
Love the feel and precision of this shifter.
I ordered the pistol grip off of Amazon, but it is on backorder for 6-8 weeks.
Hurst does not have this on their site either.
I found Core Shifters online that have 3 variations. Sweet!!!!
Brushed Silver (5388665)
Black Derlin (5388656) Really different!!!!!
Titanium Gray (5388655)

SamHouseIII great install and thanks for the write up and push.

My Z shifts pretty good now.
Without taking the bottom trans boot off, how can I tell if the original owner didn't install it?

If your wondering if your Z has a hurst short throw installed.
Just lift off the trim that covers the shifter and gauges.
It comes off easy. Take off the 4-bolts that hold the boot in place.
The hurst will have 2 bolts holding the handle.
Check out this video.

PITT PAK BUSHING

If your wondering about the bushing upgrade, then I think you would have to remove the tranny boot.
