Pete, you sweet-talker, you...
BTW, in our lil cadre of characters, Saturday at 43700 Woodward in bucolic Bloomfield Hills, was a Meadow Brook Concours-winning '69 Camaro COPO 9561... Oh, my!! |

Remember I said I forgot to take my camera into Wixom?
Truth is...I forgot the damn thing @ home... Where's my dunce hat?! But "others" took some, so I await their forwarding...impatiently... I can tell you, when the big-dark clouds rolled in, he wasn't long in covering the COPO up...!! Another buddy, who owns the long-ago-built-by-Hot Rod TV screamin' Yella with Purple leather '32 highboy powered by an Opti-Spark'd LT1, had the ignition fail from the thought of rain...true story... BTW, your buddy Bob Kern made an appearance, as well... Last edited by LOWDOWN; 08-23-2011 at 12:00 PM. |

One more Mr. Kern note. When Bob wears a suit or sport coat, he proudly wears his Pontiac Arrowhead with a #3 on it. That is from back-in-the-day when Pontiac was the third largest volume brand in the USA.

The "group", as far as GM affiliation, was largely Pontiac-"susperienced", including Mr. PHS Jim Mattison, who showed with his concours-quality double-Black 3-deuce '65 GeeTO but adios'd before the monsoon.
NO shop-talk...just frosty-pops, BBQ, great chow, and grins...a lot like this... ...and a lot of 'em! 'Course hangin' on to FOUR 10 X 10 canopies...and a 30' trailer canopy...in a downpour...with 40+ mph winds...while thunder and lightening "entertained" us...made the frosty-pops "ineffective" for a lil while... Bob was wearin' his usual leather sombrero. |

I did NOT talk with any of the current Camaro Team folks in the Birmingham display about "Z/28s"...not that any outright answers would (yet) be forthcoming.
Camaro Trivia: The abovementioned Jim Mattison, as a GM Institute intern, spring-'69, worked with Vince Piggins, shuffling paper in the COPO office for 427 Camaros and Chevelles...and was going out with a Chev dealer's daughter, who got him to order all of "Daddy's" COPO inventory... Some guys have ALL the luck! |

Limit this car and have the dealers mark it up big time. I thought the $50,000++++ Camaro was in another thread. Go to dealer to order the Z/28. Talk to sales manager: "Why yes Mr. Wykoff our dealership is getting one Z/28 and the updated bid is $20,000 over sticker, would you like to go $25,000?" I politely tell him to ESAD and leave. More cars = more $$$$$$$$$$$$. Last edited by Fightinfire921; 08-23-2011 at 03:49 PM. |

The "practicalities" of building a 24-month Gen-5 "Z/28", "properly engined and featured", means that tight supply is likely...just as you'll initially see in the ZL1.
Wanna be first on your block with a Zapper? "Pay up, Buddy!" NOT to Rick Hendrick, Serial Number 1 stratosphere, but... What actual production numbers might total is a number that's "out there"...and I'm confident GM/Camaro will figure that eventual number out, pretty darned accurately. After all, they DON'T want rebate$ to be necessary...and they DON'T wanna leave any money on the table, either... |
