Massive Paint Correction on 2006 DTS

Over vacation, one of my jobs was a 2006 Cadillac DTS, black. This was the Cadillac of swirls. The customer was looking for correction and shine, but within a budget and timeframe. Given the condition of the paint (horrendous), I was a little unsure of how much I'd be able to do with one day of work, but I pushed ahead anyway.

Realistically, I was looking for something like 70% correction. I knew there were some heavy scratches that were just going to stay and given 8 hours for a total interior and exterior detail was pushing it.

Product List:
Interior
-Megs D101 10:1
-Poorboy's Natural Look

Exterior
-Optimum Car Wash
-Speedy Prep towel
-ONR clay lube solution
-Optimum MF cutting discs
-Menz FG400
-M101
-AMMO Skin
-Megs D120
-Ultima Tire and Trim Guard+

Here's what I was working with:

Seven years of horrible swirls. Lucky me. First thought was to reach for my go-to one-stepper: FG400. After a few passes on my test panel, the swirls could be heard laughing at my futile attempts at correction. Almost no progress. Enter Megs M101:

Now that's what I'm talking about. That's one-step with one of the most aggressive compounds out there on an aggressive MF pad. Now, in an ideal world, I'd like to follow this up with something like OHP or even SF4500 to really clarify and jewel it down, but this isn't an ideal world. People have budgets and time constraints, which is perfectly fine. I was more than comfortable sending this out the door with what I would estimate at 90% correction and a good to very good level of finish.

All that was really left was to slather on a coat of AMMO Skin and button up the details.

A few final shots:

Thanks for looking. Let me know if you have any questions.

That lowly, under-powered, PC that everyone is so quick to throw under the bus these days. Guess I just got a strong one

It's what I use and armed with mf pads and a good compound it's nothing to sneeze at. So are you warming up to the skin?

I still maintain the same complaints with it. It's a bitch to remove. That being said, it's perfectly fine once it's on there.

I actually couldn't find my bottle of BFWD which is why I went with Skin.

I hate using it. Its the least user friendly LSP I've ever encountered. You need a bionic arm to remove it.

Nice work.

Have you used the griots? Compared to the PC I feel like it is much stronger and doesn't bog down when doing heavy correction.

I am just curious.

The PC is great but for the same price the griots is more powerful and with a lifetime warranty. I actually bought my griots for 90 bucks shipped brand new from advanced auto parts.

Sorry this is off topic.^

Did you see any holograms from one stepping with such a powerful abrasive?

I agree with you. I'd buy the Griots if it were between the two and I was starting over today. I'm just tired of everybody jumping on the Griots and acting like the PC is anemic. They're both plenty capable.

Back on topic...no, no holograms at all. I've never put holograms into paint with a DA. I would not consider it acceptable to leave my hands with holograms , which is, in my opinion, as bad or worse than swirls. I always notice holograms on a car from a much further distance than I could see swirls or scratches, so I'd have gone backwards from what the customer wanted.
