Had the V6 at the Drag Strip
Hey all.... I'm a newbe....
I had mine at the drag strip the past weekend. With 780 miles on the car I got a best of 14.64 @ 96mph. This was with a 20mph head wind and leaving the car in drive. I will beback to the track soon to better the et as I have found that the paddle shift is a better way to go for racing now that I have gotten used to running it. I did notice that the car did shift out to 6th gear in the top end and it would have run through in 3rd on the manual shift with no problem. Maybe next time I can get 14.40's which is great for a little V6 3700lbs. Side note... That tank of fuel with me beating the crap out of it got 29.5mpg. That is a very cool for as hard as its been driven.....

What was your 60' time?? You might still have more in her with a harder launch as well. Congrats though on your times.

2.16 - 2.17 on average.
Left off idle. Car had about 1 rotation of the tire with no burnout. I drove around the water box. I would say my big gain will be to manual shift. I just done see a big gain in the 60 as I made about 15 passes and the 60's were all in this range. Car is very consistant.

If you put it in Sport (the position where you'd also use the paddles) instead of Drive, you'll get more aggressive performance next time. You don't have to use shift buttons, unless you just want to because they're more fun.

Thanks for posting your V6 dragstrip experience.
Could you imagine if you could bring this car back in time to 1970, and pull up next to an LS6 Chevelle, Hemi Cuda, Mustang, GSX, etc. and lay down a mid 14 second run with a dead stock V6 Camaro? While getting 3x the mileage AND you have A/C ? Sweet... Give us an update next time you take it to the track. And you know you're gonna get it: |

Hey, thanks for posting this. Did you run any 0-60? If so, what was the time?

Zero to sixty times are just a sales tool. They mean nothing on a dragstrip.

The times might be better if you have the engine broken in. Careful not to beat it too bad. I am following manufactures break in procedures and it seems to be getting quicker. It also says to CHANGE the rear gear oil at 1500 miles before ANY racing. I know I might get some crap for this. Just want you to have a good running car.
