Help with Caliper to Knuckle Bolts Part Number

Hey guys,

I am going to be putting new pads and rotors on my ls camaro this weekend but I was reading this morning and found that on the v6's you have to remove the caliper in order to get the pads out (this I already knew), the part I didn't know is the bolts that hold the caliper to the knuckle are TTY bolts and GM suggests replacing them each time you remove them.

So I was just at the nearest chevy dealer trying to order the bolts so that I could put new ones in but the part numbers that I found on the forum and the ones he gave me are different.

Here is the part numbers the dealer gave me:

Front: 11570092
Rear: 92139142


Here is what I found on the forum:

Front: 11570788
Rear: 11515781

Can anyone confirm which one is correct?

I just did some work on my fronts and I used 11570788, however I have SS Brembos

Thanks! I was thinking the difference in part number could just be because the ones on the forum are for a v8 and mine would be a v6 but I am just trying to get some confirmation.

I have to pay for the bolts before they can order them so I want to make sure I am getting the right ones.

It's weird, the site I usually use to check parts shows the rear caliper and bolt as one part (#4, scroll down) http://www.iamgmparts.com/auto-parts...omponents-scat

And I can't find the bolts for #6, which is the fronts at the top

All the dealer parts man needs is your Vin Number for the right parts number. Unless he don't know what order numbers go in.

I'm replacing the rotors on my wife's 2011 SS for the first time and ran across this caliper bolt stuff in the Service Manual, saying the bolts should not be reused. The tightening spec is also odd, stating 30 ft-lbs + 90 degrees. Are these bolts yielding during tightening, making them non-usable a second time? Or is it simply a concern about the loc-tite?

I bought these parts online:
Front: 11570788
Rear: 11515781
but the package still hasn't arrived. It seems odd that for a part that is supposed only be used once, and tossed, that it is not very easy to get the right replacement bolts. They are not sold as kits. No dealership in my area had 4 of any of them in stock.

Hi James,

Yes, there are TTY (torque to yield) bolts. They actually stretch during the 90 degree tightening action. So theoretically the bolt is always under tension. The reason for this is because the calipers have large temperature swings, and they do not (for obvious reason) want these bolts getting loose.

That being said, I've seen people reusing the bolts fine.

Odd that no dealership has them in stock. I bought mine from Amazon, you need 4 to do both calipers. They're the same on each side, so you can just get 4 of this part number if you want. https://www.amazon.com/General-Motor.../dp/B008Y8QZPY

So.... Would you Torque the bolt to 30 Ft/lbs and then go another 15 minutes?

Correct. I think the front might be 44 ft/lbs though. Rears 30 ft/lbs.

I reused mine a year ago. No issues whatsoever. I checked them at about 8 months and they were still as tight as when I put them on.

Interesting. The dealers don't stock these bolts. What do they do when a car comes in for service and it needs to have the calipers removed? I'll bet they reuse the bolts and get the car repaired and back on the road.
