I voted yes. If the auto is offered I hope its actually faster than the manual.

That is a great point that I haven't seen mentioned so far in this thread.

The key to that statement, however, is 'I' eat and drink in it. Me. And me alone.

Automatic transmissions have advanced technologically. In my opinion they shift faster than humanly possible and quicker than even a professional driver. IMO the only advantage (other than price) that a manual would have is downshifting reducing wear and tear on the brakes.
The automatic transmission will make or break my decision on buying a 2012 ZL-1. |

It is baffling that people wouldn't even want the option available. Isn't that like asking for a color to be discontinued because you don't like it?

Worse than that. Actually a little communist if you ask me.

I don't care about the technology an automatic transmission has or how much faster than me it can shift. I care about having fun when I drive my car.
I'd never buy a car like this with an automatic! |

What does that have to do with having the option available to those who would drive a car with an automatic?

I knew of the 'Manly Man' and 'Cool' factors but didn't care. I grew out of that stuff. People do ask me sometimes if it's the stick. My response is ALWAYS, "I want to win" and that's it. 99% of the time they assume it's the auto after I say that. They know. |

Ignorant comments like this bother me. If you want to drive a manual then fine drive a manual. There are those of us who prefer automatic (especially if they put a proper paddle shifting gearbox in it). I am not married and the decision is strictly my own. There is nothing more manly over the fact that you get to mash an extra pedal and jerk a little stick around with your right hand.
