I voted yes. If the auto is offered I hope its actually faster than the manual.

You eat and drink in your Camaro? Oh, the horror!

That is a great point that I haven't seen mentioned so far in this thread.

The key to that statement, however, is 'I' eat and drink in it. Me. And me alone.

Automatic transmissions have advanced technologically. In my opinion they shift faster than humanly possible and quicker than even a professional driver. IMO the only advantage (other than price) that a manual would have is downshifting reducing wear and tear on the brakes.

The automatic transmission will make or break my decision on buying a 2012 ZL-1.

It is baffling that people wouldn't even want the option available. Isn't that like asking for a color to be discontinued because you don't like it?

Worse than that. Actually a little communist if you ask me.

I don't care about the technology an automatic transmission has or how much faster than me it can shift. I care about having fun when I drive my car.

I'd never buy a car like this with an automatic!

What does that have to do with having the option available to those who would drive a car with an automatic?

That's fair. If the car didn't have remote start, I'd have bought a manual too. That's how little I care either way. Remote start made my decision for me.

I knew of the 'Manly Man' and 'Cool' factors but didn't care. I grew out of that stuff.

People do ask me sometimes if it's the stick. My response is ALWAYS, "I want to win" and that's it. 99% of the time they assume it's the auto after I say that. They know.

do you people work for GM? Do you guys own that much stock in the company?

it looks like GM has built a beast of a car. this version of the car looks bad ass. Hopefully they don't do what most car companies do, which is to end up offering a watered down version of the concept as a production model !! that's what you guys should be worried about, not worried about outselling the damn mustang !!

WHO CARES !! Are you guys gonna pull up to cruise nights with Tshirts that say "We outsold the GT !!"

come on !!
I am concerned about the long term success of the brand which is why I want the car to outsell the GT. This car is being designed, developed and produced to be a competitor to the GT500 and therefore if it does not outsell it or at least match it in sales then the ZL1 will be seen as a failure. It doesn't matter if the car outperforms the GT500 if Chevrolet doesn't sell enough of them to make it worth their while. Performance numbers alone don't pay the bills.

You are right the Z06 doesn't have an option for an automatic option which is another stupid decision on GM's part. I guess you could argue that the Z06 is meant as a track car not a every day road car. The ZL1 has the ability to be both and as such is should offer both transmissions. To be honest though even if the Z06 is a track only car....it would be better on the track if they put the right automatic transmission in it

Ignorant comments like this bother me. If you want to drive a manual then fine drive a manual. There are those of us who prefer automatic (especially if they put a proper paddle shifting gearbox in it). I am not married and the decision is strictly my own. There is nothing more manly over the fact that you get to mash an extra pedal and jerk a little stick around with your right hand.

well, as far as the color thing goes... if not enough people buy a certain color... it gets discontinued.

you should drive a stalled automatic with a reverse manual valvebody and a transbrake....

you'll have fun... trust me.
