2015 ZL1 v 2016 SS
Sorry if this has already been discussed but...
I was reading up and saw some info about the 2016 ss beating a 1LE around a track, is that correct? Given that the 2016 SS can or does have mag ride controll, is lighter on its toes, and has a much better power to weight ratio than it did in 2015 is there really any reason to get the 2015 ZL1 especially considering the premium? Just depends on what you want.
For me...its 2016 SS over the 2015 ZL1, especially if you are adding MRC to the 2016 SS. Some people would rather have the ZL1 badge with the 580 supercharged horses...but for me the other changes the 16 has over the 15 ZL1 put it on top. I don't see any reason why the 16 SS with MRC won't handle just as well if not edging out the ZL1. I'd give the ZL1 the straight line advantage of course, but talking 1/4 mile numbers I think the 16 SS with A8 is going to be closer to the 2015 ZL1 than the 2015 SS. Al O said himself to expect a ZL1 like experience from the SS.

I agree at this point I would get the 2016 SS over the 2015 ZL1. It would be interesting to see a track race between the 2. The 2016 SS will be around 400lbs lighter than the 2015 ZL1. In a straight line it will be close with the new 8 spd.

I myself am going to wait for the performance #'s and price. Then I'm going to compare vs a discounted left over ZL1 or slightly used ZL1. I'll get whatever has more bang for your buck.

Vader, that is why I asked. Not trying to knock the ZL1 at all, I love that car. I got a pretty good offer to buy one and just want to make sure im taking everything into account before making my final decision.

As an owner of a ZL1, I look forward to the new SS. I think the new SS will be more fun to drive than the ZL1 -- my wife has a 2013 Cadillac ATS with the 3.6L V6 that shares the chassis with the new SS. That car is easier to throw around in the corners and is more confidence inspiring on twisty roads than my ZL1 is. I know I can take more speed through the corners with my ZL1, but you get a feeling driving the ATS that really transfers to the driver what the car is doing. Granted, the ZL1 is far more fun in a straight line, but throwing a 450hp V8 in my wife's car would be a wonderful all around toy. I can't wait for the new SS. It is amazing how much lighter, more nimble and enjoyable the ATS feels.
