Thanks for all the input guys.

The question was actually will the dealer udercoat void the warranty if they put it on. But I'm calling right now to cancel it. Talked to Scott Sherman too. He agrees with you guys.

back in my detailing days at ford, if a customer payed for undercoating the OE warranty for rust and corrosion was void.

the undercoating product company picked up the warranty, and it was longer than the OE's.

but i wouldn't do it, especially for you in the south!

congrats!

Nope...not yet. That's what has me worried...and of course (my luck), my dealer has just now started becoming useless. (I think he's more interested in his golf game these days). Every time I email...no response. On Facebook he's always golfing.

I may shoot to the dealership this weekend if I haven't heard from him by then.

No do not let them do it.

It's already galvanized unless you live near the coast you'll never need it.

If you want DIY use Hammerite Rust Cap and or POR 15 products.

I use Hammerite on the old cars I flip (I buy used POS as a hobby and sell them after fixing a bit).

Glassguard Protection
As the HAMMERITE Rust Cap coating dries, millions of heat-hardened glass flakes interlock with special resins, forming a super-tough barrier that seals out moisture to prevent rusting.

Paint Right Over the Rust
HAMMERITE Rust Cap paint is a long-lasting coating that can be applied directly over firm, rusty surfaces. With HAMMERITE’S unique paint-right-over-the-rust capability, you achieve a smooth, deep finish, rich in color

I would not have it done---no way it'll void the warranty. Drove my F-Bod for 16 years as a Daily Driver----ZERO rust!!!

Undercoating's pointless. My dad refused it on a countless number of cars and they all held up well to whatever ODOT throws on the ground during winter.

Some places it's good if you lot of road salt or places like Hawaii, Galveston etc.

But 600 bucks.. .hell no.

Buy the stuff I listed and DIY. Make sure you do NOT get that hammerite on your skin wear suit and eye protection. You can put it all over the place I have it under my battery trays and on suspension bars etc etc. Comes in colors too.

It's more a Euro thing still coming to Amerika.

No undercoating. If you are really worried about chips and stuff, you could always have Lizard Skin applied later.

Ok guys. I got it.

I called and had them cancel the undercoating. He didn't seem to care either way.

POR15 is great stuff.

GM has a 100k/6yr rust and corrosion warranty on Chevy products. Keep it clean and you wont have a problem.
