Exactly...

My thought on the question was this:

It's GM's car and if they want to name it Z28...then I guess they can. I think the Z28 name will differentiate the car from all the SS models GM has popped out. I was so damn glad the "Corvette SS" name was shunned in lieu of the ZR1 (long history...its not "new") name for the high-performance version of the Corvette. The Z28 was the track car originally and I agree that using this name to promote the high-performance version is perfect.

Let's get back to the roots of these cars and bring back some of the original GM spirit!

Funny that people knock the cobalt all the time too. Its probably one of the fastest ss cars gm has made. Infact it was only 2 seconds slower than the Camaro SS at the Nurburgring. Which puts on on par with an automatic c5 Corvette.

Not to shabby. Given the styling is not my taste, but bang for the buck is there.
Oh trust me I'm not knocking, I was just stating the fact that you could not get a Z/28 anything else Chevorlet had to offer. P.S. my wife and I have a Trailblazer SS as well as my new Camaro SS and we love both of them.

I bet none of you guys remember the RPO Z11 (eleven). That was the order code for the rare 1963 full sized Chevy with the aluminum front end- fenders, bumpers, etc with 427 CI V/8. . Only sold to a very few with connections. Am I giving my age away ?. LOL.

And it was a bored and stroked 409 W head motor to boot. Another very rare beast was also the Z16 Chevelle.

Some of the guys that own 2010 Camaros possibly their parents were not born when these cars came out.

Yes us old guys rule..............LOL

When they brought back the Camaro, they had a chance to refresh the lineup...start over.

I think they made a conscious decision to make the Z/28 special. I for one am glad they did...like others have said...'SS' is Chevy's performance badge. Z/28 is Camaro's performance badge...it deserves the pedestal, imo.

But that doesn't mean I think any less of the SS, or even the LTs....the whole lineup is kickass!!!

Interesting indeed... guess I am alone in this train of thought.

While we are dreaming... Hows about the ZL1, 700hp release by GMPP? LOL
I'm with you EROC......I think the SS should be top dog, and i don't even have a good reason why it should be, and i have no good reason why the Z28 shouldn't be,but nothing we can really do about it other than chat it up on here
