Not to get in a pi***ng match here, that is not what was said in the IDL. We video'd the key points and are editing it now. When done, we will post it here.

There is no way that all SS's will be built by October!

Heres my question....so my order for a 2LT/RS with a gm workbench # and priority 1 means nothing?

I had a warm and fuzzy but I come back from Iraq soon and I can't hope my dealer gets an allotcation for my order...so I'm asking How certain is it that dealers will get allocations for their pre-orders I thought they already had allocations....I'm so confused and upset right now...

I'm not really upset about a 4 week production delay, I expected it after seeing the way GM handeled the San Diego and Los Angeles car shows. It was apparent they didn't want any more orders......

I AM upset about the way they have handled the pre-order program.

1.) Guess what? If the V8 models are really this constrained, DEALERS ARE GOING TO MARK THE FIRST ONES UP. You may have a deposit in with them for MSRP or better, but that doesn't mean that contractually, you going to get the first few that come in. You are going to wait.

Apparently, the pre-order program really meant nothing. If dealers don't know what the mix of V6 versus V8's was on the initial allocation, they over ordered V8's and the orders are not going to line up. Some people are going to wait for a long time.

2.) Vechicle purchases are a major financial decision, and they need to be timed to fit into peoples schedules. Right now, we have no idea when to expect a vechicle. After having orders for 4 months, GM should be able to provide dealers with an estimated production date, or an estimated production month. Then people would be able to decide if they want to keep the pre-oder in place. I don't mind waiting, but I want to know when to expect my car.

Are the allocations split between V6 and V8?

Yes, you are 66% of GM's target market.

No, they are based on how GM thinks you should earn them.

Seeing how GM has been consistent in their approach, are you saying that Dealers should have know better than to place preorders knowing they didn't have the allocation to support it? . Or are you saying GM changed the Pre order system in mid stream causing problems for dealers?

Dodge offered their Challenger SRT8 as the first model available with the RT's and V6's coming later. I'm sure they expect to sell more v6's than V8's, but at least they recognized that early buyers would want the larger engines.

I hope for GM's sake it works out because the company doesn't have too much in the way of good news lately. I want an SS Camaro later this year too, but I might have to wait a little longer I guess.

Yeah why didint they have the actual allocation out when we took preorders like the exact amount of v6's and v8's they could order so that this didnt happen

Well I might have to cancel now because:

I thought I'd have my car by March, I thought I'd have my car by April, I thought I'd have my car by March, I thought I'd have my car by April, I thought I'd have my car by March, I thought I'd have my car by April, I thought I'd have my car by March,
I thought I'd have my car by April, I thought I'd have my car by March, I thought I'd have my car by April, I thought I'd have my car by March...

People, seriously, everyone was fooling themselves into thinking they were going to have their car in the 2 months. No way was that going to happen.

If you're going to cancel your order because YOU had unreal expectations then so be it. I said many times that a lot of people were going to be disapppointed....

Umm, not if the dealer doesn't accept it. It's HIS choice. For those of you that got your dealer to commit to it, good for you.

NO ONE should have got an impression they would get a car by a certain time - that was never promised.

God I hope so but it seems that the different salesmen here who saw the SAME IDL got different things out of it. It wouldn't surprise me at all that we "blew their estimates to hell" by ordering 80/20 SS's...

I think it's going to be the budget enthusiasts dream car. I was considering placing an order, but it sounds like I shouldn't have any trouble getting one from the dealer lot once they start cranking them out. Maybe even at a discount?
