Roof Rack for a Kayak - EDIT: Did it, here's a picture

Okay I realize some of you may frown upon this but I need to get my yak in the water as big boy season approaches quickly. This is such an odd question for these forums but I need some info and trust you folks as knowledgeable on what works with Camaro's.

Maybe it is blasphemy, I dunno. But I promise to travel in my morning hours then after dark so nobody sees me tarnish the Camaro image. For the love of fishing it has to get done.

So I suppose I need the roof rack itself with the bars and towers. I'll also need the kayak holder as well. The rack has to be proper as I have a sunroof so I need to do this right. Any links or info would be appreciated. I'll continue to look for answers online. I'll even put up pics so you guys can point at it and call me names for some worthy information. Anything that has worked for you. Thanks. not sorry.

Any car can have a roof rack/mounting solution, the real question is - do you really want to? It's going to quadruple the odds of cosmetic damage. I speak from personal experience as a former kayaker!

This is what they make trucks for, lol. Personally I'd rather have a tow hitch and trailer on a Camaro before I put stuff on the roof, lol.

Just drop the back seat and let it stick out the trunk.

I thought about doing something like this....but instead, I just sold two kayaks last week. I figured that if I must kayak, I'll just go rent somewhere lol

They're expensive, but they'll meet your needs. Both companies have websites. Check 'em out.

That is a board rack for your board, I think it even holds a long board(Old school surf board for those of you too young to remember). That is the epitomy of cool, if you drive around with a surfboard attatched to your ride.(It's also a West Coast thing!) But a kayak? Is that a midwest thing?

I can't help but laugh at the idea of a Z28 going 55 on the highway with a kayak on the roof. Ugh... I can't see a camaro driver as a kayak type!

I'm a kayaker, too... We're out there.

I haven't looked very hard for a solution to travel with mine yet, but I'm going to have to within the next 6 months.
