HD Green belt vs. regular?

Is the green HD belt worth the extra few bucks?

Just curious...

Yeah they are much stronger, so that is worth it to me. Seen a regular gates belt on a Keene belle 5.0 snap the other day. Wasn't pretty at all, he is now running a green belt Lol

The HD (Fleetrunner) is stronger & resists stretching better than the regular belt.

So yes, get the "Green" HD (Fleetrunner) belt...

Regular belt is stickier and doesnt' slip as much. Belts are cheap and easy to replace. Green belts last longer, but I rather have a better performing belt and replace it every 30k instead of a belt that last 60k miles.

I have never heard a mention ever of a green HD belt slipping more than a standard Gates belt. My experience is there wasn't any difference in the slip department and the HD belt seemed a higher quality.

Those prices seem pretty high... I'd check amazon. I just ordered an HD (green) belt from there for 38 bucks shipped.

If you have no issue with the green belt, or are not stressing the belt, go for it, but the black belts do perform better. Gates has confirmed this time and time again. There is also the RPM line of blower/racing belts that just came out, that out perform both and are made specifically for aftermarket/blower/racing. If you want the best belt available, look into ordering one of them. Typically made to order so can take 6-8 weeks though.

can you clarify with Gates engineers for everyone here if the green HD belts have a higher friction coefficient than the normal black belts???

a lot of people on here seem to feel the black belts are "softer" and grip better, although perhaps at the expense of shorter belt life, which few of us really care about on here.

This is true. The HD series of belts has a lower COF but a stronger internal construction than when compared to the standard Century Series Micro-V. Please remember that the targeted customers of the HD FleetRunner belts are long haul truckers. Truck belts have a different set of criteria they need to meet which made them a good choice for supercharged applications due to the durability.

Up until our RPM belt came out you were forced to compromise. Either more sticky or less stretch. RPM belts have been designed as a no compromise best of the best belt.

I guess my Amazon skills sucks today.....can't find the green HD belts. lol

So it does seems most peeps here are running the HD belts from what I'm reading.

I wonder what Ted from JRE thoughts are on this with his 125rwhp package?

Which belt do you need?

The belts on amazon I was referring to were made by Gates, which I know is the same as the napa stuff. Just saying it might help with your search.
