L99 Highway milage with DOD delete...

Anybody with an L99 disabled the DOD and if so, how did it effect highway mileage?

Considering getting a tune to go with the CAI/Exhaust (and maybe ported throttlebody)

Jannetty Racing was mentioning that most L99 trans tunes just disable the DOD. I get pretty good highway mileage (25-26mph) long highway trips (LA to SF or LA - Phoenix) Avg speed around 70-75.
(I was quite impressed for a 6.2L V8.)
If I have the DOD disabled, any idea what type of drop (if any) in highway mileage I'll be looking at?

Not a huge factor in my decision, but just looking into all the factors.

I still have AFM enabled post tune for the chance of better mileage (car doesn't drone and AFM isn't very noticeable when you can notice it). I got 23.5 mpg on my last road trip which consisted of PA, MD, WV, VA, NC, and TN mountains a Camaro gathering with plenty of stupid driving (engine revving, hard launching, tire noise, etc.), and then in town driving while around the area. I have a cold air intake, ported throttle body, long tube headers with cats, catback exhaust, and a tune. As long as you have an exhaust that doesn't drone, contrary to what others will say, you can have a good exhaust tone, minimal if any AFM noise, AND a good sounding exhaust.

On the highway I would say I lost maybe 1-2 miles per gallon after tuning but it got a fair bit better around town where it actually gets driven. No regrets on MPG at all. Besides the engaging and disengaging of the AFM is hard on the motor compared to running in V8 all the time according to Jertm on here....

You probably will lose 1-2. I have the Range device and have driven long drives with and without the Range device.

I gained .1 to .3 miles per gallon with my normal commute, a little more on longer road trips.

If you want more performance you will lose MPG, there is really no way around it. You have to find was the best for your car and your budget. If you want 30 mpg get a camry but if you are ok with losing a little bit of mpg for more response, throttle control and better more constant v8 sound then do the DOD delete. :-)

I go about 250-300 miles per tank before I fill up and I can live with that

City/Highway with DOD = 18.3mpg. Tuned out after 6 months (been 7 years now) = 18.1mpg.

I have never disabled AFM, but I notice that the engine stays in 8 cyl. mode at speeds over about 75.

I see no point in disabling AFM unless you are making valve train changes.

In the ideal world I'd like ti be able to disable DOD/AFM when I'm in M mode and not in D mode. Talked to Jannetty Racing about doing a trans tune along with an engine tune, and they said that basically best idea with a tune is to disable DOD/AFM regardless. Not overly concerned about highway mileage. (My city mileage sucks as I have a lead foot, especially coming off red lights) I was just surprised at the good mileage I got on long highway trips, and wondered if I would see big drop if the DOD/AFM was disabled. It seems not. Like I saind, not a huge factor in my decision, but just looking into all the factors.

FWIW regarding AFM drone, I have a Corsa catback and no AFM drone. (Love that exhaust and highly recommend it for anybody with an AT V8. Not to loud around town or on the highway, but put your foot and hear it roar.)

Thanks for the real world data folks. Appreciated.
