Sounds like it could be aftermarket. OEM front & rear 'SS' emblems are either red or white (filled chrome) to signify RS or non-RS.

Thank you for the info. I will have to pick up some red ones. Now I'm wondering why they would have replaced it. No accidents on the Carfax report, but it seems like Carfax isn't always very legit. I do keep finding tiny pieces of broken window glass in my trunk, for some reason. Car seems flawless though. Hmmm.

I had some guy trying to tell me that a 5th gen with the RS package meant it was a v6 argued about it for like 8 or 9 posts (this was on a FB group page).

Correcto. I debadged the car when I had it painted. I transferred the white SS badge from the rear and stuck it on the dash. The rear is still clean. I found some black SS badges that I placed on the quarter panels.

i mean, to be fair... if it has an RS badge, it's a V6. if it was a V8, it would have an SS badge. unless someone removed the SS badge and replaced it with an RS badge. not sure why one would do that but i don't see any reason one couldn't. so while an RS badge isn't intended to indicate a car is a V6, if you see one, you can be almost positive the car is a V6
