This will happen anytime you wash the car and then let it sit on the emergency brake right after. The rotors will rust over and will attach themselves to your brake pads. Thats normal.

I found the best solution for me is to pull the car into the garage, pull the e brake, get out, put a block behind the rear tire (since my garage leans back), and then release the e brake. Then, nothing sticks.

I've never had this happen on any car ever. I'm surprised the small amount of surface rust is enough to lock up the brakes. Is this something that happens only when you use the parking brake?

Same here, and I have exactly the same question.

I can't remember of ever in nearly 50 years setting a P-brake and leaving it that way overnight (benefit of life as a flat-lander, I guess).

I never use the parking brake and it happens every wash where the car is not driven immediately afterwards.

This happens to the Camaro and it happens to my Jaguar which has Brembo brakes as well. The pads sit very close to the rotors, so close they may be touching. The rotors are carbon steel and will rust. Some of this steel gets embedded into the brake pads. Get both wet and they will stick together. Nothing to worry about, you just have to give it a quick jolt of power and they break lose. As others have suggested, drive and apply the brakes to warm the rotors and they will be clean and dry.

Yep...had it happen a few times lately...glad I am not the only one! Now that I think of it, it has only happened the morning after washing...maybe I have hard water!

What is the problem? thank you
KING_DJ,

Sorry to hear about this. Since you're simply seeking thoughts and opinions (and a few responses have been posted), feel free to message us if you want to take it a step further and get an official diagnosis. I'll reach out to the dealer's customer care specialist for additional assistance with resolving this at the dealer level.

Sincerely

Happens all the time to me and I rarely use the parking brake. Especially in my garage where this happens normally after a car wash. My car sits all week in the garage and comes out on weekends.

Pop and I'm ready to roll...

Yep, pop and a loud one (in the garage) and all is good.

Yep same hear and I even tried not using the e brake and it still happens. Did it on my 2010 SS also. Now I just go around the block and all is good.
