The automatic car we ran on our dyno made 312...So it looks like your right on par.Our shop car made 352 and it is a 6 spd manual...Ours seems to be right on with the 16% drivetrain loss.

take into consideration weather conditions effect a car... some people have been getting around 320 - 325rwhp on the L99...

man that seems low, i would also think 350 rwhp. My Manual one is making 380rwhp. So i would say 30-40 hp less than manuals would be right.

Odd, LS3 A6 Corvette are putting down 350 to 360 RWHP and M6 vettes between 370 amd 380. Something is wrong.

Keep in mind that different dynos are more or less onservative. Also, automatic transmissions have greater drivetrain loss from manuals, and are a bit more difficult to dyno accurately...on top of the 26 hp loss from the manual by spec.
That being said, I've seen auto dynos on this forum ranging from 310-330 or so, so you're not really out of whack for a somewhat conservative dyno.

Put AR LT and corsa exhuuast and Really makes a big difference. Exaust manifolds are really restrictive compared to a corvette. Exhaust manifolds are like Bricks. Haven't Dynoed Results yet. Its Like 99 degrees and 100 percent humidity here last several days. Not exactly Great weather For Dynoing. Putting a Hennesy Supercharger kIT ON in July hasn't arrived yet so I want to get another baseline before I put it on but this weather needs to break a little ( Sorry Mine is a 6 speed Manual) I will post numbers before and after.

FYI...LS motors run a lot stronger with a few miles on them. Try again after about 5 thousand miles. It only gets better from there. My 99 SS Is just peaking....at 15,000 miles. Really runs alot stronger than new. Rings are set etc. Much more noticabe than the old Chevy motors

Why are the Dyno's so inconsistent??? Hell, he ran low 13's bone stock, and sub 13 after a simple tune.

You cannot compare dyno's plain and simple. Use them only for tuning and to do before and after's to measure gain from a modification. You guys will drive yourselves crazy trying to compare guy A's dyno result to guy B's. Different dyno, different weather, different elevations, different user inputs, auto vs manual...
You also should be real careful comparing track times if you aren't running at the same track...elevation and weather make a huge difference. Those Tune Time and New Era runs are up in New England...Atco's DA for Matt's runs was like +600...us guys in the South are seeing DA over +3000...this can make a huge difference in ET/mph. Also you really can't compare the Vette Auto to the Camaro...Our L99 has a number of differences that will affect performance: less compression, different cam, different tuning, more restrictive exhaust, different factory CAI tract, cylinder deactivation complications etc. Understand, you will have to perform some mods to make the auto a formitable player, stock it really kinda sucks...even the G8's are sticking it to the camaro really.

If I had to guess i would think that the valvetrain differences between the LS3 and L99 are accounting for a big chunk of the difference. The AFM system has unique lifters, so maybe they are limiting how aggressive the cams can be. Any know the cam specs?

I have a small database (not much info out there) that I have compiled.
The average L99 has dyno'ed 320 rwhp, the average LS3 is 367 rwhp. |
