Used Camaro Price Gouging! WOW!
Just thought I would share my story with you. Was driving on riverdale road in west springfield, ma when I saw a Red LT1 Camaro. It was at Balise Toyota and it was situated in the front of the lot, on a "hill" as to showcase it to passing drivers.
It was an automatic, with RS Package and Sunroof. Had almost 8k miles on it. Since I was relatively interested I gave the body a look. Couple scratches, then I saw a huge chip off the paint. Deep enough that it made it through all the layers of paint and enamel. It was filled in with red touchup paint. I kept walking around it. Two small dings in the driverside door. There were no salesmen around so I just left after I checked it out. I then decided to call the dealership, half expecting them to take me for an idiot on the price and I was right. $25,000. Are you kidding me? I didn't even bother negotiating, just hung up. I am confident that they actually think it'll sell for that price and are firm. I'm taking my business somewhere else. I am thinking 2011 anyway but comeon. The thing is in GOOD condition, not exellent, not great. Am I justified in thinking that that is price gouging or what? |

For 1.5k more I can have all that new, and without dents and a huge chip in the paint. And with 8k less miles then again I get the preferred pricing, but even thats not all that much off MSRP
Maybe I am just being critical at this point? |

I wouldnt call it gouging...this car has the highest resale value of any car in its market, and its bordering on being worth more used than new.

The demand on this is very high, agreed, but until the 2011's and 2012's come out, we won't truly know which way the depreciation curve will go.
I don't think I would be so shocked if the car was in great condition, but its not. |

Keep in mind that the 25k price is their asking price. Do you really think that they're going to quote you their lowest price on the phone? No dealership is going to do that.

Just order a new one. Buying a lightly used car only makes sense on certain vehicles. The Camaro is not one of those vehicles.
Unless you find somebody who needs to give theirs away........ http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...645733883.html if it seems to good to be true....... |
