No lock on fuel door?

Went for my first fill up this past weekend, and there's no lock on the fuel door? REALLY?!

Gas is already close to $4 a gallon. Did GM think no one would figure out the "push in, pop open" thing?

Anyone replace the cap or door?

It locks when you lock the car supposedly.

Doesn't lock when you lock the car-Try it

The tank punch is the tool of choice today. Siphoning is so old school.

No more siphoning these days, almost all manufacturers put a screen that blocks a siphoning hose in the filler neck.

You'd be surprised how many owners couldn't figure it out.

We haven't had a Siphoning case in a few years here...

Tank punch is the new deal...but it seems to be more prevalent among older vehicles and is still not as common. Honestly, most people who are THAT strapped on cash are just going to steal a civic as opposed to sitting there with an even greater likelihood of being caught or deal pill distribution.

Also, it doesn't draw much attention...someone fiddling around with a Camaro will be noticed. I am not entirely sure what object/tool they use to complete the punch...

I think you should be fine...

Any farmers out there will apreciate this

I grew up on a dairy, and occasionally a cow would get the bloat (gas so bad it put pressure on the heart and could kill them). We had a tool that had a punch with an outer sleeve. You stabbed the cow in the abdomen and then pulled out the inner punch tool leaving an insert into the cow, let out the gas etc. I saw a "professional" tank punch, used mainly on big rigs and it looked about the same. Punch the tank, pull out the inner part, slap a rubber house on to the external end of the outer punch and let that diesel flow.

when i got the car initially i did NOT read the manual!..i was half crazy trying to find the "button" OR "lever" INSIDE the car that opened the gas door!..NEVER thought about just "pushing" the spring-loaded door to open it!..
i felt like such an as*hole!..(w.t.f.!)

yeah!..ignorance IS bliss!..with regards to this!..just sayin!
fortunately,OR unfortunately, depending on your perspective, shouldn't get caught hanging around a camaro(personal property) these days, unless,of course, one desires to meet "jesus" at the earliest available opportunity.
