2015 ZL1 Predictions

Hi all,
I know it's a little early to start a 2015 predictions thread but I have been waiting to order for a long time and it's getting close and getting excited. I am one of those guys that's always scared to pull the trigger thinking something better is coming. My first new Camaro was a 1984 Z-28 5.0 HO , 6 months later the IROC came out, that kind of thing. I ordered a GT500 , but when the ZL1 offered the auto it made me pause.then I was going to order a 2013 and heard about the updates with tail lights, seats. So a little time passed and decided I waited this long might as well get the last year of this body style, which should be the most refined and bugs worked out. The irony is I am now thinking about getting a stick anyways. Go figure.I have been a lurker and following all the threads from the beginning when all were ordering for the first time and waiting and tracking the first cars ! it was awesome. Thanks to all members for info and feedback.

So, maybe a special color or option package ? Heard rumors of a carbon fiber edition.

You're a good add on to that Raise Your Rate CD commercial, you don't like being trapped.

I'm no insider, but I can't see any "wow" thing occurring for 2015. I'd say pull the trigger and enjoy life.

Has this been a 4 or 5 year long decision, think of all the fun you could have had in whichever car you chose in that time.

I'll let Ferris take it from here:

Thanks Ferris.

The biggest hope for me for a future change was for a power increase. When the Z/28 rolled out last March, reality set in with me that this ZL1 was as good as it was going to get. My other hope was for a medium blue metallic color. The updates that the '14 offered was good enough for me to decide to finally pull the trigger for a ZL1. I'm sure we'll see one or two changes for '15 but IMO it will more than likely be a carryover year.

I don't foresee any big changes for the '15 MY as there were no major announcements from the auto shows that usually occurs. It's usually in January/February when changes for the new MY are announced. There are a couple of weeks left, so if there is nothing by the end of the month, WYSIWYG.

Care will always get better each year, so waiting for the latest and greatest will take for ever. Just buy the car you want, you can wait for the new model every new year, but then you will never have a car.

.
I know it's so stupid , I was thinking the same thing about how much enjoyment I could have had vs the hit on say a trade in. No brainier should have pulled the trigger a few years ago. But I am so stubborn that as time went on I felt, well I have this much time invested might wait a little more for 2015 model. 2015 is shaping up to be a banner year for performance cars, 2015 mustang, hellcat challenger,ZO6,Z28,lexusRCF. It's a great time to be a gear head.

Yes I was also dreaming of a power increase but , I think you might be right about it being a carryover.

I continue to say it but they probably won't do it. I would like to see the front end enhanced a bit. 14 SS and z28 make the ZL1 nose dated a bit IMHO. May as well go ahead and bump the hp to an even 600hp just for giggles.

I spent two years antagonizing and butting heads with anyone that would listen on this website for changes that I wanted to see for the ZL1. I wanted the car despite the power deficit against the Ford, yet I held out hope for a power increase and for a medium blue metallic color.

Last year I saw the ZL1 grow and mature into the fantastic performer that it is now, and a few of you here helped me to realize that this was the best time to get a ZL1. I do not see significant changes for the ZL1 for a few reasons: 1. A big power increase would undermine the marketing efforts of both the Z/28 and the corvette; 2. 2015 may be an abbreviated production year as Chevy tools up for the 6th generation, therefore any additional investment to the current generation probably would not be cost effective; 3. The ZL1 has become somewhat of a legend with the attributes that it presently has, so making it better may or may not create a huge splash of attention as compared with its introductory year; 4. Chevy and GM will probably introduce changes into the next super camaro from the 6th generation, as CAFE rules permit.

My brother had a 69 Z28, which he wrecked, wrecking it for me. My Mom got a 70 RS and sold it shortly later. I always wanted a Camaro, then life threw curves and then I saw Transformers and knew I wanted a Camaro, I waited for the Z28 and rumors flew and I waited, then out came the ZL1 and how could you resist that car? I understand the wait but it doesn't get any better than this, this may be the last hurrah depending on climate change. SS, 1LE, Z/28 and ZL1, if you can't find a Camaro there then this might require therapy!

And they'll probably come out with something newer, better, faster, right after I die.
