I bet the other people who have issues with the car limping and saying engine power low has the same issue.

I hate dealing with my dealer about this before it was dreadful goodthing there was a service rep here in c5 that called me and talked to my dealer about it. and so should I take my car back to my dealer?
What? The problem shuts the car off, it doesn't reduce power

I checked with a dealer, no recall so far! The rumor is replacing the present all in one key/ remote to a separate key and remote.

I tried after work today and there is no way my knee could hit the key. I'm a short guy and in my normal driving position my knee is much closer to the steering wheel than the ignition. When I raise my leg it hits the steering wheel with several inches clearance to the key. Only if I scoot forward several inches can I get my knee even close to the ignition. I know everyone's body and driving position is different, but for me there is no way my leg is hitting the key.

Granted, it was pretty far from where I normally have my knee, but it still was possible. So swapping it out for something similar in the Camaro won't solve anything.
+ 1...

yeah like i said my friend just tried with his VW... and it turned off... my other friend is trying now with his mazda that has a switch blade..

I'll try this with my focus when i get off work. i have an all in 1 key but its not a switch blade.

Well before sometimes it would start with engine power loss or just BOOM! dead car. so yea it's pretty scary! I was so pissed that I thought about abandoning it on the highway and just calling it quits on the dealer and my bank.

Btw I'm new to cars, do I have to take it in for a recall and will this make my current keys useless.
If you bring it to the dealer for service they will want to do it.

If you want to keep your keys do your own service or find a private garage.

So are you bumping into your key fob with your knee?

Or have you modified the car?

Seriously? You know what else is dangerous? The ability to turn the key to off with your hand. Actually the ability to drive is dangerous. We're clearly not mature enough to handle it. Take the cars away.
I hear you. Where do you draw the line? You could also accidentally bump your shifter and put the car in reverse on the highway. How do we prevent that? I have a stick and I could accidentally shift into the wrong gear at any point. I guess GM should stop making manual transmissions too.

No lol well its hard to explain but yea when they fixed it they told me it was a busted wire in the steering column that was messing up the system and it just throws codes and shuts off the car weird huh?

So actually your issue has nothing to do with this....
