Weird on the leaky brake lines. Any chance the braided line you got are not right for the stock inverted flare? Or did I misunderstand something?

Yes, I will most likely bolt it in just in case I need to take it out. On the brakes, its not the lines, its leaking around the threads from the hardline into the adapter for the AN lines. I connected the old brakes to the hard lines last night and the leaking stopped. So I found that Wildwood sells a braided brake line that doesnt require the AN adapter and ordered those.

Not quite done yet but getting closer! Waiting on 2 AN fittings for the catch can to arrive later today, fill the S/C coolant tank, put the CAI on and it will be ready to fire up. Oh, and I almost forgot that the gas strut for the hood left the party Wednesday night as well. I went out to work on it Thursday evening and no workie... so using an aluminum pipe till the new one arrives..

On the brake lines, looks like the drivers side is good now. I used this flaring tool from Amazon on the original flare to try and reshape it, and looks like it worked so far.

Unfortunately on the passenger side, the flare nut wont slide back far enough to use that tool . I have some metric unions and flare nuts coming this week as no parts stores here carry any metric brake lines parts.

Wrapped up the spare tire cover yesterday. Used some automotive rubber seal I found at Lowes to go underneath it. Yes, there is a small dent in the upper left hand side.. My magnetic light fell on it while I was putting in the last two screws..

Here is what the brake line flaring tool looks like up against the passenger side line and why it wont fit...

So, I decided to try and "modify" the tool so it would fit. Here it is in the band saw.. Will use a small c-clamp to hold the other side since that bolt will be gone.

While unintended, most of the threaded hole that holds the handle remained, so that was nice... lol

Fitting and cap have been on for about 18 hours now and has remained dry. Before it was leaking with the same fittings on it. Real test will be when I get the rear cradle back in and the brake lines hooked up later this evening.

Good work! Coming along nicely. How did that brake line tool work for you? I bought the same one to do my lines.

It works great. Funny thing is I have a Snap On double flaring tool that I bought off the truck ~35 years or so ago. They still sell the same model today for ~$220 more than I payed.. lol.. Anyways, when I was practicing with some new line, the Snap On keeps splitting the line. The Capri tool, works flawlessly every time. I really like it.
I bought another one so I have it for when I need it and will use the modified one only as needed.

While putting the driveshaft bolts in and starting to torque them, on the first one I noticed the bolt stopped turning and the torque wrench kept moving... You know that feeling... in the bottom of your stomach.. whats happening... ugh...

then I found this -

I have broke many tools over the years but never like this one lol.. Ive had this extension (and 3 other sizes, it was a set) for ~35 years.. Its most likely an Allied tool from Sam's Club in the very early days - late 80's..

I know that feeling very well! One of those situations that make you nervously laugh out loud when you realize what happened. LOL

Haha, atleast it wasn't a bolt snapping inside of something. I'll take a broken tool all day. I bought a full set of knurled snap-on 3/8 extension set on facebook marketplace for $50. They are also the wobble style. I don't have a relationship with a snap-on truck though, so if i ever have any issues its on me to replace them.

Just a quick update - Drove to Indy yesterday (trailered the car) and dropped the car off to get the cage installed. Norm said he would send some teaser pics as he goes along and I will share those as I get them. Tentative date for completion/picking it up is Friday the 29th.
