A manual transmission makes you DRIVE your car. You only go for a RIDE in an auto car.

I got manual transmission because that's what I wanted... that's all that matters to me.

I now have 4 vehicles and 3 of the 4 are automatics.

So why did I buy the Camaro with a stick? Because an automatic just seemed wrong to me. I never even considered it.

Theres a certain amount of respect that comes with owning a V8 RWD Coupe Manual trans car in the US.

When I look at Camaro's Mustang's Trans Am's or Challengers and see the automatic I just sigh. Not a true muscle car. Theres a reason they gave the automatic a DOD and less hp....that didnt just happen.

That being said, I am glad every buys automatic cars now. Makes my 6 speed that much more sought after, respected, and valuable.

So while cruising next to another car i can rev up real high whenever I want!

So i can dump the clutch at every spotlight Nd roast them rubbers!

So I can gain maximum horsepower

So I can optimize maximum fuel mileage above 40

......ok not Srs

Why did I choose to drive a stick? Answer is simple. Because I CAN. Automatics are not a bad thing, but they are for people with bad knees or poor coordination (imo).

For me, "The Challenge of the Drive". Also I've had Autos and I've had Standards, the Autos were never my idea. If I have the choice I will go Standard every time! Really, you may be faster with that Auto, but there is no skill involved just mashing down on the gas pedal. My grandma can do that. Racing isn't about driver vs. driver it's about man against machine. It's about all your knowledge and experience against the technology and mechanisms of the car. It's about getting the most out of your car, and squeezing everything you can out of it, while learning the track and getting the best lap time. I guess what it boils down to is a passion for driving. I can't be passionate about an Automatic.
