MAF sensor cleaning?!

How often do you guys clean your MAF sensors? When i bought the car used i do not know when the MAF was last cleaned so any idea how often you guys do it?

Want to be sure that its reading correct.

I do it every oil change... along with my blinker fluid inspection and headlight calibration.

I'd say probably once every few years. I have a dry filter on my cai, so I would imagine your fine unless running an oiled air filter. I say that as most people over oil those things.

I'd say Chuckie is spot on. Unless you're having issues, cleaning it every two or three years is fine. The wire in the sensor is very thin and make sure you only use cleaner specifically for MAF sensors. If you're running an oiled filter (I run an oiled Roto-Fab), use just enough oil to color the filter after cleaning, otherwise, like he mentioned, it can be drawn into the intake track and coat the sensor wire, fouling it....

From my off roading days regarding oiled filters

Olddudesrule was spot on about oiling the filter. You don't need a lot just enough as described. If you do think you sprayed too much oil, I have placed the filter in the upright position large opening down, and let the excess drain towards the bottom and wipe the excess off.
