There are several warehouses nearby that hold most of the GM collection. Those are fun to poke your head in as well.

Good pictures as well, thanks for sharing those.

Oh and I wish you had let me know you were in town.
Hey Number 3,

I actually wanted to try to meet up with you, but it ended up being a whirlwind trip! I got into town with enough time to drive around the design center area (saw a couple of those crashed up CTSs and that made me so sad ) and head over to the Heritage Center. I did try to get into the design center, but they said something about security and trade secrets...blah, blah, blah. I did get to see the outside of the "dome of design" though. The following day we didn't come back into Detroit. I said that next time I want to get up there with enough time to meet you and a few other people. May just have to make a special trip up there. Have to check with my tour guide though to make sure everyone is in town and available.

Very cool!! Might have to plan a trip to visit. Took a while for me to find the address on their site, but finally found it. For anyone curious:

General Motors Heritage Center
6400 Center
Sterling Heights, MI 48312

Just for info, the Heritage Center is not open to the public. But usually twice a year or so, they have an open house for GM employees and up to 3 guests. The problem is normally they only give 2 weeks notice. But if you know an employee and they can get on the site fast enough you can meet up with them and get to see the collection. It is normally different each time as they have a huge collection and rotate the vehicles on regualr basis.
There are enough GM employees on here that they could probably work something out for anyone interested when the next event occurs. (Just saying )

Here is one of the other concept cars that was making it's rounds a few years ago. This pic was from the Woodward Dream Cruise. Aug 2008 I think.

I think there was only the silver coupe and the orange 'vert, plus at least one fibreglass 'car' (red) that were really just a shell, not an actual car.

Great thread - thanks for posting.

Here's the link to the GM Heritage Center website - http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/

They don't have a Collection gallery for viewing per se - too bad... though here's a link I found for a YouTube video tour -
