New pics, plasti-dip lower grill

Well after seeing other members luck with plasti-dip, I decided to give it a try.

Decided to do the lower front valence and grill area ala ZL1. (larger grill opening look) Prep work involved washing the front end, masking around the grill area and newspapering everything that had a potential to get overspray.

Took a lot of coats, each gradually thicker, to achieve a smooth look. It does make you think "OMG what the hell did I do" in between coats but once dry, looks pretty much like vinly. Tips would include using a razor and scoring/cutting along the tape lines to prevent the plasti-dip from peeling.

I need to touch up a few spots but otherwise I'm happy and it seems like it will be durable. Also, did a test patch and the stuff peels off fine with a little persuasion. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Very nice, how did you prime the paint for the plasti-dip? and how many coats do you recommend to do something like this?

I like! Planning on doing the same thing. Even contemplating doing the whole roof of the car but I might do that with sheet vinyl. Is the black pretty close in color with your stripes?

I made a thread of application tips for plasti dip. It doesn't take any prep
