And so it begins....

Look at the cars this thing is surrounded by..... It's going to be a bargain for the performance you get!

I kinda felt all along it was going to be tough to beat the ZL1 by much because it is giving away so much HP and TRQ. That track has some nice long straights that allow that hp and trq to be put to good use. On a tighter track, I am sure it would perform better but I was expecting low 30's at the very least.

And it is slower than a 70k GTR by 21 seconds (2009 model, which had a base price of 68k, 4 years ago, and weighs much more, has more luxuries, etc.)

YEaa, but its not a Camaro .

We could do this all day, but the fact of the matter is that this Z/28 performs

I felt it would be a little faster than it was, but 3.8 seconds faster than the ZL1 is nothing to be ashamed of. If it was only a few tenths faster, then I would have been disappointed, but 3.8 seconds is in my opinion big.

It performs to a lower standard than it should imo

Hot rod magazine sums it up pretty good...

"NEWSLASH! 2014 Camaro Z/28 Absolutely Kills It At Nurburgring"

"This behemoth of a muscle car eats up Nurburgring like sauerkraut during Oktoberfest and demolishes such luminaries as the Porsche Carrera S and Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. Not bad for a car that weighs two tons, eh?"

Not good enough to trade in my ZL1. I wanted it to be but alas, it is good...not great imo. Nonetheless, I am proud of team Camaro. That's all for me.

Camaro Z/28 Nurburgring time = 7:37.47 !!

Also on the slightly disappointed side of the fence here.

A remarkable time of course, but given how stripped back it is, the tires and wheel combo, the carbon ceramic brakes etc - I was hoping for a little more.

Your reading comprehension and mathematics skills are only exceeded by your typing skills...

The difference is 3 POINT 01 seconds, and an V-Spec GT-R is a lot more than $70K - in '09 or any other Model year. Unless you're buying Used. Great performance by a robot car...with AWD. BTW, it's pretty easy to "tune" an extra lb or two of boost into a turbo car...

You're disappointed? I'm shocked at that turn of events. It's pretty much what I expected. Surrounded by all this "expectation creep" that's gone on, it's about what realistically SHOULD have been expected.

Deep into the 7:20s or tying-beating Z06/Z07 C6s was a pretty fanciful wish...

4:48 yikes and 6:22+ sliding around in the wet! That is a really good time for the conditions! This is a race car for the street no doubts. The fact it can beat some of the best street cars in the world again "in the wet" is pure joy for Camaro fans everywhere and oh BTW Ford try and beat that.

For those that are somewhat disappointed with the lap time (7:37:47), what lap time did you expect? Just curious.
