look at it this way...a trunnion upgrade(the good brass bushing kind) has NEVER failed...everybody who has used them reports minimal wear after usage...
stock trunnion HAS to do 1 of 2 things...last forever OR fall apart dropping needle bearings thru yer motor or better yet causes the valve spring to fail allowing the valve to smack the piston...and you know what happens then. so it's your money and piece of mind..when I did the upgrade some of the rockers almost fell apart they were so lose..and my motor was replaced in 2014 with a brand new LS3 so the mileage was probably around 25k... look at my mods and next season once I get my head out of my a$$ and figure out the best launch for this car I will get into the 11's...bet on it....good luck op..

And good luck on your quest for 11's! I am hopeful that by the time I get tires, I should be able to get pretty deep into them! |

I did upgraded Needle bearings pressed in, wish I would have learned of these before my build..... I will be using one of these once I go back in.

Cool, thanks guys! I will look into those. I like the idea of not having the chance for needles getting to the motor. I thought the upgrade just made them better contained needles.
These being a solid chunk of brass, seems like worst case would be they wear too much and start causing valve train chatter. I'll take that over metal loose in the motor any day! |

The Straub Bushing kit is very nice. Good quality. Last rebuild I installed them...

well go-go, I guess I'm glad I started following the forum - this might have convinced me to go with a bushing upgrade as well. They all look nice, but the Straub kit looks to be what's recommended.
Question for the guys using/recommending the Straub kit - how much extra install time/difficult is doing this upgrade when compared to just leaving your set up as is when doing the cam swap? |

^^that's awesome. I thought I was done spending for the winter but it looks like I need just one more thing lol. Will need to do some reading for Straub vs summit vs CHE. This happened a few weeks ago too with new spark plugs, race wires, and heat boots. I need to just take a break from this forum until I have all the new stuff installed lol. If I'm not careful ill end up with a TT kit before spring at this rate!

The bushings take about an hour or so to do. I bought a small cheap bench vise and did the work on my lap, really simple and easy.
