Mustang moving to new SUV platform? Lol
http://fordauthority.com/2018/06/sou...-cd6-platform/
Apparently Ford has a new platform that can be used for anything that isn’t a body-on-frame truck or a compact car, and they plan on using it on the next generation Mustang. I’m no expert, but I have observed excessive body roll from every S550 Mustang other than the PP2 and the GT350(R). In fact, the S550’s chassis is so bad that an SS 1LE can keep up with a GT350 on track. If the Mustang can have a bespoke platform and perform so poorly, how will switching it to an SUV platform help? It’ll be the laughing stock of SCCA events for years to come, and the 7th gen Camaro will approach C7 Corvette levels of performance. Here’s to the Alpha platform being good enough for an actual sports car |

I mean GM did it with the Sigma I platform. And eventually GM will be down to just four platforms across the entire lineup.

That really doesnt mean anything other than smart business. There are a lot of manufacturers, including ford, that already have platforms that share betweem cars, and SUVs or whatever three letters they are calling them these days.
