Brembo brake calipers

Just changed rotors & pads (to Power Stop brand) on a 2010 SS with 30,000 miles to get rid of the brake dust. With less them 200 miles on the pads, the left rear caliper is smelling hot when going out for a drive and leaving a lot of brake dust still.
I have done the bed-in procedure, switched sides the pads were on, taken it apart and looked at it several times.
When I had the pads out the last, I had someone press down on the brake pedal slowly to see if a piston was hanging up, and only one piston comes then the one above or below it (depending on the side) comes out a little ways.

Should they come out equally, or has someone else seen this?

Thanks.

Did you compress the pistons before removing old pads? “Smelling hot” sounds like the pads aren’t releasing all the way.

When you inspected and removed the pads from the rear left caliper, did you notice any difference in the wear on that particular pad? I ask that because if only one piston is applying full pressure it seems the unbalanced pressure might cause the pad to canter and smoke?

Confirming my suspicions, a recent brake shop I trust and this thread says that there is no such thing as a great stopping brake with no dust. You get stop performance and dust. Or poor stopping performance and little dust. You can’t get sumpin fer nuttin’ as they might say down south.

The thickness on the factory pads seem to be pretty close to the same.

Also yes I pressed the pistons all the way in when I removed the pads, no problem with pressing them in, they seemed to go in easy.

I agree. I tried a hard pad (ceramic) on my truck and it just did not stop as well. I took them off and went back to the dirty factory pad. The ceramic pads also would not stop my wheel spin in the back with traction control. It would eventually but not like the dirty pad.

Thanks for the comments, may have to try a factory pad again and see what happens, since they are not worn out.
