Was hoping - but rained out. Maybe this week. I pulled the seats for good measure, I want that 11.5x number!

At least the rain will dry....my lifter probably won't fix itself! lol.....sigh was literally half way to the track(only 10 min away) and check engine idiot light came on and started running rough. P0307 so evidently when #7 intake spring broke late spring something happened to the lifter.....gonna do the bare minimum and hope to get back when the track has it's next t&t in 2 weeks. and yes gonna inspect the cam lobes hope the 8620 core helped protect it.

That's awful luck! Good luck with getting it back together. Maybe it's time for some Johnson Lifters.

lol...used to have a bunch of Big Johnson t-shirts! So I pulled the right side valve cover and there sat #7 intake rocker kinda sideways off of the P/R and valve tip....gave it a tug and it pulled right out! Noticed very silvery material on the lower part of the bolt and was like SHITTTTT....and then the double whammy because apparently when the motor was replaced they only do the short block and the silvery stuff was the f'in heli-coil that pulled out! I am fairly certain that GM would not do that so the original heads got reused.

so now I believe my only option is to find another 821 "cuss I ain't got the $$$$ for anything else right now....crap. What I really want is the Comp Cam BSR shaft rocker system. Look it up.

*****************UPDATE!************************
So it turns out my initial thought that the head had been heli-coiled was wrong. Happens....rarely...LOL! So I jumped onto the web and my search turned up Time-Serts. Ordered kit #1812 off of Amazon for $80 plus'ish and got it today with the prime 2 day ship. Very nice kit and a very straight forward repair. Buttoned everything up and when I twisted the key she started right up with no "bad" noises! Wahooo!

Waited until this evening and took her out for a real test...once warmed up I ran the snot out of her...up shift, down shift, 7k shifts o my! Made a quick run to mexico and popped 135.....ran like a champ! These freakin motors are awesome.

Now have to wait until the 27th for my tracks T&T.

That's awesome! Good news for sure, glad that came together. I just loaded mine on the trailer, track is tonight. Weather looks like it's gonna hold up, DA is pretty decent for time of year and location, and the car is ready to try out these goofy looking 26" tires. Hopefully will have a new PB to share tomorrow morning.

Agreed but one can not argue about their success....and to answer your earlier Q my Hoosiers are 315/35....since they came with the rims gonna try/use them but I keep thinking a MT Bias ply is in my future.

Be safe and have a great time, get sum vids!

It was crap. DA was killer, but we had a steady 15-20mph headwind with gusts double that amount right down the track all night. Prep was uncharacteristically poor (probably because they knew it sucked anyways). I never actually got the car to hook first gear, still spun my way to a couple 1.7x 60's. Nobody was running any record passes.

I did improve my PB (previously 11.86@117 on a 1.73 60') down to a 11.69@119 on a 1.74 60'. So, I think I validated that the short tires (I was on 26" Hoosiers vs. 29" NT05Rs) are definitely worth some mph and ET. I think on a better day it will go 11.50's at at least 120 - it was really storming out the back with the extra RPM, even into all that wind.

New PB though, and thats still pretty good. Not much longer and we will have better conditions and will really be able to see what we can do!

At what rpm did you go through the traps?

None of my video equipment was working very well, but based on my calculations it should have been around 6400. Definitely loved the extra gear from the short tires. I think in good conditions it'll be 120+

Nice job! How much of a burn out did you do? Can't wait to see how my setup does, certainly feels quicker on the street...lol

I did about a 3-4 second burnout, in second gear. First hit was at 22psi, 2step at 4500. Spun all the way through first, 1.9x short time. Second hit was at 22psi, 2step at 4200. Didn't hook up great, pedaled once to a 1.7x 60' and on to the 11.69 pass. Final attempt I dropped to 20psi, 4200 on the 2step, another 1.7x spinning a bit. Wind was insane, went a 11.74 @ 118. Gave up after that - I have never left with so little RPM in this car and still had traction issues. Granted the 2step hits a lot harder than me just holding the rpm, so there is still some learning curve to work on there. It definitely will breed consistency. Hoping to go on the 27th again.
