Unhappy Got a chip on my windshield today! :(

Coming back from my work. Its a long drive for me, I am driving in the lane all the way to the left, and I hear a rock hit the car and so I start looking for a chip on the windshield along with my work colleague, I don't see anything while I am trying to look for any chips to the windshield and right then a second one comes and this time chips my windshield.

The chip is not that big and I will probably have it fixed before this weekend (hopefully), but my car hasn't even hit 2k miles yet and this happens.

I feel your pain, just last weekend I was on the motorway and had some randomass rock or something fly up and give me a couple scratches on the passengers side.

Now I need to figure out how to get and use a touch up kit (IOM)

Its a battle scar......gives it character .

I know man. Hopefully you will have it fixed up soon. Do let me know on how you go about getting the touch up kit. I remember the first day I got my car, my brother swung open the door and it hit my old car which was sitting right next to it a little bit, nothing noticeable but would still like to know where can I get some in future when I need it.

Is it noticeable or its like it never happened? I just got off the phone with my Insurance company and have setup a claim. Someone is suppose to be coming out to fix the chip on Thursday.

Same thing happened to me at 1500 miles.

Fixed it with safelite services...but it came back eventually....So i called them about the issue and they replaced the whole windshield with the OEM....

Happy now...

Nice. Did you have to pay anything for the replacement or was it covered under some sort of repair warranty?

Yes, it's there but very small. If you didn't know where it happened you will never notice it. However, I do but just because it's me. I didn't claim it since it only cost me $20 to fix it. But if it gets worse I have a $50 replacement windshield coverage. It's cheap like a $1 more a month

Sucks! Got my crack about a month ago....on the way to work on my day off! USAA fixes it for free though through safelite, so after a new windshield, recaulk to it, then another new one, everything is good (first one leaked air and water).

I see, I think if that is the case then even I will be able to see it, cuz since I know where it happened I will always keep looking and trying to find it after its fixed. Just won't be able to help it. :P The reason I ended up actually filing a claim was because, what is the point of having and paying for the insurance if I don't end up using the benefits for which I am paying the hard earned money.

I see, I am really happy that it worked out for you. How did you end up getting the crack? A chip turned into a crack or was it something worst? I am waiting to see how the repair will look, guess will have to just wait till Thursday to find out.

Same thing happened to mine at about 1200 miles (iirc) Safelite came out and did that resin BS. It made it better but I can still find it. I just don't want to break the seal on the car yet.

I like the battle scar idea...
