Borla "S" is my vote. If your budget is $1000 go with the axle-back. You need to cut your stock exhuast but its fairly simple to install and gives you the same sound as the full cat-back.

I see no other disadvantage. No tune needed for an axle-back. You may end up cutting the stock exhuast anyway if you went for a cat-back, just becuase its so large. I did just to fit it in my garage.

My suggestion is go on youtube and listen to all the exhuasts on Camaros and decide from there what brand of sound you like.

My personal favorite, Stainless Works Retro Chambered cat back. This is what a muscle car is supposed to sound like.

It is all personal preferance and what sound YOU like, but.... IMO the Flowmaster AMT system is the best sounding and the cost is freakin great for a complete stainless system.

There is no need to get wrapped up in the T304 Stainless hype. T304 and T409 are both an alloy. There is no denying that T304 is a better grade of stainless than T409, T409 will last longer than you would ever need it to. T304 has 18%-20% chromium and 8%-10% nickel. The higher nickel content is what gives it the higher lustre. T409 has 10.5%-11.75% chromium and .5% nickel which is why it has the golden dull look. A magnet will not stick to T304 but will stick to T409.

Stainles works or Stainles power a subsid. 304 stainles needs no coating. lighter in weight, mandrel bent smoother flow, good fit, and nice price.

Flowmaster Outlaw or Solo. The Borla Atak sounds good but over $1000 for a catback.

the "cat/cats" are the catalytic converters

the "axle" is what connects the rear tires to the diff.

Cat-back includes the x-pipe, deletes the resonators, and replaces the mufflers.

Axle-back is just the mufflers.

Full exhaust is (from the engine)... headers/O2 sensors/cats/h-pipe (or x-pipe with most aftermarket systems)/resonators/mufflers.

IMO, I would get headers/cats and keep the stock catback if you are working with $1K... it sounds awesome and there is no drone.... and you actually gain 35 HP. A catback gains 0HP.

if you have 1000 to work with, I would go with headers then work back from there, that alone will change sound and add horses. then if you only have a little left your can still change out the mufflers if you want a diff sound.

My dealer installed these as part of a year end promotion when I bought the car so don't know the cost. Fine print says $850. They are GMPP and look and sound amazing. I get compliments everywhere I go.
