Question Reguarding Turbos & Tires
I am getting ready to do some mods, only question I have is a single turbo or twin turbo setup, my car is an automatic and I am looking for that 850-900 rwhp max right now, bottom end will be all forged just don't want to do the transmission at this time, so basically I have read a lot of post till I have somewhat confused myself even further so is there anyone on here with an auto with a similar setup?
The second question is the tire combo, I understand my car is about a 1000lbs heavier than normal being a convertible, and I have seen a lot of post about the Nitto's and was leaning that way, but was curios again if anyone with an auto with 700 rwhp has any experience with them and the tire sizes they are using? I will also start a build thread with all the mods in the next couple of days when it hits the shop, looking forward to picking you guys for information and sharing any I have Thanks in advance... |

For packaging reasons twin turbo is a good way to go. A larger single turbo would work just as well but would require a bit more exhaust piping. I went with an AGP twin turbo kit as its hands down the easiest to convert imho. I make a little over 800whp with an auto and find any drag radial with a good boost controller works well. Your car is about 220-240 heavier than a hard top.

OP turbos will be softer than superchargers down low. Plus you have all that weight. You can get away with NT555Rs I think. My last tires were Street ET Streets. My best 60's were with the NT555Rs. With the MTs I bogged @ 10 pounds on my SS with AGP twins. Although with the automatic you may have better luck spooling with me and my 6M.
I have a 3" tube AGP twin kit with 51/61 Borg Warners rated to 900 HP and a 3" Magnaflow ZL1 quad tip catback. The 3" setup gives you faster spooling. If you are handy with tools it is a bolton. PM me if interested. |

I have not. My phase 1 consisted of a TT conversion, turbo cam, flex fuel, and tune. These cars "with a good tune" have proven to be reliable to around 750-800whp. I am not driving a supercharger anymore so that took 75-100hp off the nose of the crank. At my current power level the transmission and bottom seem to be happy. I could make more power but am choosing to stop here for phase 1. Later I may do a complete forged bottom end, mast heads, and built tranny.
