10L80 swap

Anyone know when the 10L80 will be available to buy and how complicated it would be to swap into a 5th gen? Considering a project in the future to install an LSX454 in my 2012 along with the 10 speed to use as a street car an occasionally on a road course

So I'm not sure but the top bolt on the bell housing and block on LT blocks are off set so the will not directly mount to an LS. Now I'm not sure about the other bolts but I'm sure they are probably different too

If thats the only difference in mounting then thats nothing. If the other bolts line up you will be just fine.

Don't think the mounting will be the problem, having an aftermarket way to control the computer will be the headache.

That was my question also, computer control. Aftermarket may come up with a solution if these 10 speed trans become the cats meow...

That would be a heck of an update to the 5th Gen!

I don't think even a standalone module would fit the bill, it would take a module that talks to the ECU since they're so interrelated. I doubt GM would come up with it since there is no factory requirement to do so, even for older retrofits. Unfortunately I think most aftermarket companies would put all their focus on the 6th gen since that's where the money is now with the latest and greatest.

The CAN communication won't be compatible.

Well i guess I'll just go for the LSX454 first and see if one day someone develops a way to make them work together. Only other curiosity is if they have plans of coming out with an LTX kind of crate motors anytime soon. I'd also be interested if someone develops a way to control it to swap the 10 speed into my 2014 Raptor with the 6.2L that I'm about to install a whipple on.

Looks like a way to control the 10R80 independently is being worked on for fords. GM prob to follow.

Another here wishing I could get the fast shifting A10 swapped in my 5th Gen.

Surely someone is going to have A10 swaps available eventually for us, right?
