We have always been a fan of the Vortech units but this kit takes it to the next level. Ted.

I’ll be back on the dyno in a week or two with the new blower and e85. Since I still have the stock shortblock, i dont want to push it much past 800. Ill start off with the biggest pulley and go from there.
The only thing I didnt like about the lsa, or PD blowers is having to deal with heat exchangers and hoses and liquids, but then again you may not need to pull the front bumper. The torque curve is great tho. Pros and cons...

Yea I'm sure I'll probably regret it later down the road if/when I max out my LSA but for right now it just made the most sense. Oh and you did earn my business, I'll be contacting you to tune this beast for me once I'm finished with the install.

Jrod,
When you max out the LSA - you can move to a heartbeat and pick up prob another 125hp. Maybe by them they will have an eaton 2650 version of the heartbeat... Cheers, Dan

Started the swap. Took some pics. It would have only taken 1 hour but we ran into a small problem with some missing bolts for the new bracket.
Some comparison photos.

I would suggest running the bypass to atmosphere instead or recirculating hot air back in to the blower.
That bypass will likely be too small for that large blower you can add a second one or switch to a much larger one. Ted.

I guess the easy answer is SURGE! lol, So will the blower take longer to recover after shifts, and take longer to make boost again? I'm tempted to pull the surge hose off the valve and let it sing, but being in Florida we do get a lot of deep puddles very often. Hate for that valve to open while submerged.

It's a proprietary blower of ESS Tuning. We are doing some Research and Development at the moment, but hopefully the "G3" blower will be available as an option when you purchase the kit.
I'm just a tester, so I don't have all the details.

Ok, i pulled the surge hose. Vented to atmosphere. Not like i drive it in the rain anyway. They suggested I start off with the largest of the 3 pulleys shipped which is 110mm, but I dont listen to reason well. I went with smallest 100mm. I just need a 3.5 inch hose clamp and some kind of cap for the surge hole in the intake tubing and I’ll be off to the dyno. Gonna fill the tank with E85, change stoich to 10.5, and limp to the dyno. Whenever I can get an appointment.
Not sure why all my pics come out sideways.

The advantage of maximum bypass is cooler running blower, colder charge air before the intercooler further increasing efficiency, improved gas mileage due to less drag from the blower working against boost. There will be Zero change to throttle response or recovery. Ted.

Worst case...it'll destroy the supercharger. The BOV on a blower car will always be ejecting air in operation so it should be hard to see water ingested, but probably not impossible. |
