Coilovers yea or Nea ?

I have a 15 1LE with 11,000 miles on her. Thinking of lowering her 1.25" with BMR Springs and coilovers. Upgraded struts in front. Has anybody used Strange Engineering coil overs? If so what are your thoughts?

What is the goal with the car? Drag, autocross, track days on a road course? That will help with answering the questions. I have BMR 1" drop all around on our 1LE and no issues so far after 2 years with them.

Autocross and Track days/road course most likely.

That being the case, look elsewhere for coilovers and just do all 4 if you are set on a coil over. Otherwise, a good set of springs, Detroit Speed comes to mind will be just fine for track and autocross work. You could upgrade to Bilstein struts all around, or even the Bilstein coilover setup would work nicely and not kill a budget. Mixing a coil over and a spring will make it worse than either one or the other only. I'm on lowered springs now, but making the move to coilovers by end of summer I hope. Waiting on a few parts to be tested and fit first before making the switch.

I would have to say yea. My Pedders Extreme XA remote canister coilovers arrived about an hour ago. I'll give you a report when I get it back on the road.

We have had some awesome reviews from our customers at the track with the BC Racing Coils. They adjust for both compression and rebound. 30 Levels of damping force too. Let us know if we can help.

I think these hot rods are fine just the way they came to us as far as handling!

DSE or BMR springs with Bilstein B6's make an awesome set up. I have the BMR -1.25/B6 set up and love it. I wish I could have done the DSE springs but was worried about the extra -.25 with the shitty WI roads. From what I have heard coilovers take more time to get dialed in. Springs and struts are plug and play. Plus the money you save with the springs/struts you can add other pieces that help a lot; rear sway, castor locks, billet radius arm bushings, Z28 bushings in the rear, rear sub bushings.

Agreed. I am still working on the most important mod if you have a 1LE....the idiot holding the wheel and pushing the pedals!

I would agree with the statement that the 1LE's are set up very, very well in the suspension department, and would recommend you track it first before you change anything. That said, I went with BC Racing ER series after about a year, because I wanted to be able to adjust the ride height, rebound and damping. I'm very happy with them all around. My choice came down to those or the Ride Tech's, and I don't think you could go wrong with either. There are other, more expensive choices, but for my uses, the price point was right. Thought about the Penske's, but couldn't justify spending $5K.....

Thanks guys, maybe I will rethink this. I wouldn't do it till winter anyway so I have time to read up and decide. Really appreciate the info.

i bought peddars XA coilovers off member her, brand new lol. best thing you can do suspension wise, raise and lower at any time... stock or above or below stock, coilovers best, springs suck .

I’m going to jump in here, because if you haven’t watched Cornerspeed’s YouTube videos you’re not realizing that mods really don’t matter. It’s the driver that matters.

With a stock 1LE and no mods he was going around Laguna sub 1:48s in 2012/13. With my Modded 1LE (CAI, STs, Mid Pipe, Tune) I can’t touch that (1:50s). It’s me, not the mods. It’s him, not the mods.

At Laguna on turn 11 (I think it’s 11 ... the hairpin coming into the straight at the start) I’ve seen high horsepower and better handling Ferraris hit the LEFT wall making a left turn. Agains the driver may have more to do with success than expensive expensive mods.

Having said all this ... I *do* love my mods and plan to someday add a cam!

Absolutely true that mods alone will not matter if the driver isn't skilled enough to make them work for him/her. While my car was stock, I had a driving instructor out drive me in a much less performance oriented car, quite easily actually......I just didn't have the skill level at the time to use what my otherwise great car could had to offer.
