Headers Install
Hey all,
So i’m planning on having headers installed on my ‘10 SS sometime within the next couple of weeks. I’ve purchased the gaskets as per recommendations on this forum (everyone advised against using gaskets that come with kooks) and plug wire sleeves for a some added peace of mind. Anything else i should pick up before having these installed? Different spark plugs? Thermostat? Car currently has cold air kit and mbrp cat back which will probably be replaced with corsa at the same time the headers will go on. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Heat sleeves for your plug wires.

Are you getting your headers ceramic coated?

Do you already have the headers? If not we can give you a great deal.
You likely will want new spark plug wires the fit better around the headers. These are always a great recommendation. https://www.cspracing.com/msd-super-...cations/32819/ |

Depending how old the plugs and wires are you may want to replace them at that time ,it is not uncomon to crack a plug when installing headers. If you have the 1 7/8 and not the 2 inch headers you may not need the sleeves .Forget the extenders , have a tune done to get the max out of the headers and delete the rear O2's .

Yeah, bought the headers already and only reason i did not go through you, is because i wanted them paid via Affirm. Have a friend who takes his camaros to you, so i’ll be coming by sooner or later as well. Thanks for advice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Plugs are new and headers are 1 7/8. I’ll educate myself on the O2 delete and maybe do that. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Kooks fit pretty good so I wouldn't worry to much about that but it is a good idea to always keep an eye on close contact points during a header install. Check for wires, frame, steering shaft, etc. It's always a good time to change the plugs and wires but if they are newer you should be fine. Just make sure you take your plugs out first so you don't crank one removing the manifolds or installing the headers. If your car has higher miles I'd recommend getting new front o2 sensors. They can be a problem every now and again. Sometimes they just go bad, sometimes they are real hard to remove and sometimes they don't perform the best for tuning. Not a must but I usually recommend it on high mileage cars.
As far as an O2 delete goes. Your tuner should be able to turn them off. |
