Help me order the right headers

I'm searching and searching and searching and have no better knowledge now then I did when I started. My warranty is up in about 3 months so it's time to order some mods. I want to start with headers and am not sure what to order. Basically I want catted longtubes. I don't want to change the factory exhaust just the headers. I'd like to go with Kooks 1 7/8. If I order the catted longtubes, do I also need an X or H pipe, or will they bolt right up to the stock exhaust? I have no idea why this is so confusing. Also, who did you order yours from? Thanks in advance!

bolts up to stock exhaust. Kooks and American Racing have a Z/28 specific header and will work great. Definitely go with 1 7/8".

Since you will need a tune you should hook up with a speed shop and ask them what they recommend. If you purchase the parts from them and the tune they may give you a discount.

Your dealer should be familiar with the locals or go to a club meet and ask around.

I have a set of American Racing 1 7/8" long tube headers (catless extensions) that are brand new (still in the box) that I would sell to you. If you are interested you can call/text (417-766-4660) or PM me. Kind of new to this forum stuff. I sold my 2015 Black Z/28. Thanks.

No, that is without the connecting catted mid pipe. They sell it as an option though.

EDIT- This is what you are looking for:

This! Did it with my LS3. Awesome fit and finish, added the Kooks HFC'c, bolted right up to the stock NPP, sounds awesome!

Just this past weekend I installed a set of ARH longtubes, hi flow cats and X-pipe to the stock NPP mufflers on my 1LE. The fit and finish is great, the sound is even better. I ordered on Wednesday and had them at my house on Friday. I installed them by myself but I don't recommend that to anyone not willing to struggle for a whole day.

I'm really looking forward to doing the install. I installed a 2 post lift a few months back and look for any excuse I can to use it.

That lift is going to make life easier for you. I'd feel the same way you do if I had one.
