Thanks. We've been doing a front squat "strength session", every week, for 9 weeks using "80%" of your max. Started out 8 sets of 2 and each week one of the sets would be changed to a 3 rep set so at the end of 8 weeks it was 8 x 3. I started with 225 and almost every week added 5lbs. Ended up on the 8 x 3 week using 260.

I'll try to get a video next time I "max out". Maybe August.

Breaks are always nice! I just took 2 weeks off. Other than that, I'm great man.

Bump.

Sucks I won't get a rest week for 3 more weeks. My body is really struggling.

So in other news, I set a PR in the overhead squat....

A whopping 65lbs

I struggle with shoulder mobility/stability and ankle flexibility. The weight itself is not an issue. But I started with the PVC pipe lol.

We should be maxing out in the overhead squat in about 14 weeks. Be interesting to see how far I can go.

Lifter in NH here - I like to do powerlifting style workouts, but I can't say that I have done any competitions at this point.

On a bit of a couple week break right now, messed up my elbow so I haven't been able to lift at all, at least nothing serious. Lots of isolation and machine work lately.

Prior to messing myself up my max lifts were as follows:
Body Weight: 176 lbs, 5'8"
Squat: 425 lbs
Bench: 320 lbs
Deadlift: 495 lbs

Nice.

I'm battling a shoulder right now. All of the "olympic" and "curved" lifting of CF has really bothered my left shoulder.

My shoulders have been real bad lately. Benching is fine until I load up 225, then the pain starts. I've been using dumbells on an incline. It seems to not bother my shoulders as much. Did 100's for 7 today at 203.5lbs. I turn 43 tomorrow. Was hoping to be 210+ by now, oh well.

If you want to gain weight, muscle mass try a 20 rep squat routine for a 12 wee training cycle, at your age probably 2x a week, and drink a gallon of milk.

just ease into it. remember the pain may be tomorrow or Wed during recovery. So don't feel like you have to push till it hurts today.

and save money for a new wardrobe, as you will outgrow the one you are in. That is a killer routine, but great at his age!

When I stopped working out a while back it was due to what I thought was a shoulder injury. Turned out to be a bicep tendon. Opted out from surgery and got a few cortisone shots and a lengthy recovery but I've been back at it and everything seems good so far.

Both in weight loss or mass gaining nutrition is often a key factor that does not receive enough attention, you've got to eat to grow. what and when you eat is also key.
