RC multi rotor enthusiasts......

Anyone else on the board into RC multi-rotor camera platforms?

I'm a newb in this world but I bought a Blade 350qx. I quickly destroyed the body in a crash and have been trying to convert the guts over to a flame wheel 330 frame because of the shortage on spare parts for the 350qx. I was however able to find a 350qx body and will be putting my 350qx back together this weekend.

I'm looking into the LaTrax Alias as a starter to get used to flight and then moving up to a DJI Phantom when I'm ready (and funds are available)

Yeah that one is a nice piece for sure. I thought about the phantom but went with the 350qx because it was slightly cheaper. It's awesome to fly in stability mode. GPS mode is really tame. It won't get any closer than 30ft from you and also has IOC (intelligent orientation control) meaning no matter what direction it's facing, back on the stick goes away from you and fwd on the stick goes forward. Also the throttle corresponds to altitude not a throttle setting. Meaning if you go full throttle, it will go up to a maximum altitude of 150ft and just sit there as long as it has a GPS lock. And if you just drop it to min throttle, it will gently land itself all on that fixed GPS coordinate that it's locked onto.

Got my 350qx back together finally. Added some prop adapters and some carbon fiber props

Yes, I am in to this as well.

I have a DGI Phantom that I am putting a Zenmuse mount sometime soon.

I also have a DGI Flame Wheel with FPS camera and a Wookong...can do the whole groundstation thing and set waypoints.

Here's some footage from the Phantom as it currently is without the Zenmuse...I'll grab some pictures in a few minutes.

I've had a couple of unfortunate incidents in the last couple of months which is really testing my patience (and wallet) with this thing. But I am really enjoying myself and I hope eventually to get a brushless gimbal and FPV set up for the 350qx. I'm also interested in building one. Probably a 450 size with a full Naza or wookong.

Yeah...gotta watch out for those branches

I've had some minor incidents so far with the Phantom...mainly when trying to get cute and fly through tight spots like an archway in my brothers back yard.

I cracked and broke a piece of my Zenmuse gimbal frame (the plastic pieces with the shock mounts) from a hard landing. I have the new part, just haven't had time to fix it yet.

I'm not sure I'd want to use goggles unless there was too much sunlight to see the monitor.

I used the Blade MQX which was pretty cheap and a great learner platform. Cost of yours looks similar, as does the frame....so I'm sure it'll work fine.

I also own a blade 180qx and I've been having a lot of fun with it. It's been fun to fly around while waiting on parts for the 350qx. Plus it binds up to my DX5E no problem

I guess I also need to get a GoPro 3 and an external mic (with a windscreen) cause it sounds like the copters pick up a lot of wind noise...
