Need More Traction? First Ever ZL1 with Dually Rear Wheels!
Just Kidding! I wanted to show off some good pictures of the Drag Radials that were on the front porch today when I came home! Mickey Thomspson 305/35/20's Even though they are the same size as the stock Goodyear F1's the tread actually touching the ground measures a full 1.25 inches wider. The F1's are very round on the edge while these are nearly straight sidewall. They seem lighter than I expected and are very soft (can flex the tire by hand a lot for a radial). I have 2 new rear stock ZL1 black wheels coming to wear these so I can easily swap at the track and not have to drive around 40-50 miles each way on DR's. Easily the widest tire I have ever purchased! And please ignore the clutter in my garage, it needs to be cleaned to make room for the ZL1. |

Also, I used to get 4 wheels and tires in my Cobalt SS/SC when I changed from Summer to Winter and then back again. 2 in trunk and 2 in rear seat. And that is a much smaller car than the camaro (but had smaller wheels and tire too) The Camaro should fit one wheel in the trunk and one in the back seat? Whats with the caps lock (on the internet that means you are yelling at me)... |

Awesome, I like the Treadwear 000 on the label too - which means about 2 miles, 1/4 mile at a time. :-)

If you ever drag race, you need a drag radial.

I am waiting on one of the OEM rear wheels because they sent me one front and one rear by accident... Quote:

However, I ordered the tires from Summit Racing and the wheels from ShopChevyParts.com. Other than the box being mislabeled on one of the wheels and having to send it back, both places have been good and the lowest prices I have seen with fast shipping. My dealer wanted $1,200 for one wheel!!! Quote:
I learned that last Weekend and last Wednesday with the stock tires. Got rained out both days so I have 7 runs total down the track. Basically one run for each traction mode and drive mode combination. Yet the fastest run I have done so far was my very first run. Had the traction control off and stability control on. Suspension in sport mode. Transmission in Sport (M without paddle shift). No burn out at all and stock tire pressures. Left on 1,000 rpm and slowly rolled onto the throttle with a little wheel hop. 2.1 60' Everything else I tried later just made me slower in the 60' and the performance traction modes made it bog very bad in the middle of the track. I look forward to running these DR's and perfecting the launch. |
