ZL1 Rims

I currently have a 2012 2SS/RS which has continental extremecontact DWS all seasons (245 front 275 rear) on it with only about 1000 miles on them. I am thinking about trading it for a blue ray metallic 2014 ZL1. I still have the stock pirellis which I can put back on the 2012 SS before trading it in. If I were to keep the continentals for the ZL1 and got rims that fit the tires for winter use, would this size tire and rim (245 front 275 rear) work correctly on the ZL1 and what rims would be best.

My 2 cents is they will not work. From what I have read here on this site is anything that is not within 1 inch of the factory tire heights will cause the computer to go nuts and light up your dash like a christmas tree. Someone else needs to chime in and say for sure but again I would not do it and I know the car would not look right anyway with those size of tires on it.

zl1 has 20" rims not sure what size your tires are?
also this will throw off ABS and speedo since they are different sizes, unless the aspect ratio is different and then the height might be close enough to not worry.
Google tire size calculator and you can see how much shorter or taller two different tires are.

Your DWS tires will work fine on a ZL1 for winter use. The SS tires are 28.7" tall. The front ZL1 tires are 27.9 and the rear 28.4. Factory SS wheels will work fine for winter wheels.

The Zl1 has larger brakes and needs a special offset on the wheels for them to fit. I'm not sure your stock SS wheels will fit. I bought another set of ZL1 wheels for my Continental DWS Extreme Contact tires. I have 315's on the back and 275's on the front. These Continentals grip way better than the GoodYear F1 Eagles that came stock. Can someone else weigh in on weather his SS wheels will fit the ZL1.

SS Wheels and Tire sizes WILL work. I have done this the last 2 winters with absolutely zero problems!!
This really needs to be a sticky as this comes up every few weeks.

What if instead of using my old ss tires, I buy 2 more stock front rims for the zl1, put them on the back and get 4 285 all season tires. Will this work?

I do the same thing every winter. I take the stock ZL1 Goodyears/wheels off and store then in the basement. In their place I use a set of standard size wheels/tires from my 2011 2SS/RS.

They fit just fine.

Thanks for all the responses and help. It's nice to know that I have that choice to use my current tires. I thought of another solution which can be seen below. This way I could keep the stock look but have all seasons. Not sure if any problems would arise from placing stock front zl1 rims on the back. My assumption is that it will work.

Does anyone know if buying 2 more stock front zl1 rims and putting them on the rear and getting 285 all season tires for all 4 wheels will work with no problems?

So can you throw SS 19's on a ZL1 without problem?

Thanks.

I think the offsets are different, which in this case will make the rear look a bit narrow as the wheels won't poke like they do stock.

You can, however, test it out with a jack and a wrench. Just swap the fronts to the back and give it a look. Takes half an hour on a bad day.

There are no SS 19" wheels.

The 19" wheels will not clear the Brembo brakes, the 20" wheels will.

The SS's came with 20" wheels.
