2 step on 2010 ss auto?

I'm not telling anyone what 2 step is? Lol I'm just saying I've seen it in auto cars...

A 2 step rev limiter is normally used with a transbrake on an auto, so that when the transbrake is engaged it has a lower rev limit to hold thottle to floor while on starting line, and then once released it switches over to higher rev limit. If not for this, rpms would go to high with thottle to the floor at starting line.

A transbrake holds the car in both forward and reverse gears to prevent it from moving while engaged, so that thottle can be held to floor and button released to launch car at full thottle and the 2 step would allow you to control that launch RPM.

Using 2 step on manuel would be more of a launch control using clutch.

Wow...

2 steps are definitely used on Autos for drag racing and VERY common...
(combined with a high stall it gives you a measure of consistency and a way to adjust the launch rpm accurately, helps dial in the car's reaction time as well)

They don't have trans brakes for 6l80's as far as I know...

IMO: Camaro 5 has been a very poor source for information about drag racing a 5th gen. This thread being a good example... The OP should try looking at other forums more centered on drag racing for better information.

You can run them but you don't need them on a stalled auto. Best 60fts are leaving off idle (1.42) all motor to date. Maybe if you ran like a th400 or so.

Correct for a 2step to work as it's meant to, it need's to be a trans brake auto or a manual and there both a form of launch control.

There seems to be a lot of assumptions on this thread. You CAN wire a MSD 2-Step into an Auto car. You can't do it on the brake pedal itself. You have to go to a switched 12v source like the clutch switch on the manuals. I suggest using the 3rd brake light wire from the BCM. It's in the black plug and is a white wire. There are 2 in there so it's best to test them with a multimeter. Tap the wire and plug it into the 12v white wire on the MSD 2Step. You don't have to use them with a trans brake at all. I don't recommend using them with a factory torque converter as you can't stall them very high and makes it pretty much moot. I use it to activate the methanol kit I have set up through a WOT switch on the gas pedal. Helps lower my IAT's before launching and then of course through the trip down the track. It's an NA car. 3800 rpm stall.

^^ AGREED !!!

OP, the benefit of me running a 2 step on my Trans AM is it allows me to leave the line in boost and the same level everytime. You dont have to worry about trying to get your foot position set. You set your 2 step to the desired RPM and floor it.

You need to check out yellowbullet or ls1tech

For those who want to run a 2 step launch control on a M6 these are parts you need, plus a RPM controller of your choice. All plug an play and totally adjustable with your clutch pedal. I'd recommend a Lingenfelter RPM controller as the MSD one I bought is a paper weight do to issues with it.

Yes. That’ll work fine lol. I have the lingenfelter launch control/2 step. Works perfectly. But I don’t use it often. Still awesome

I've had 2 steps on street vehicles and there's really no practical use for it
BUT at the track with the right set up, OH YA!!!

I had a Brand X Race Truck I recently sold to a good friend and it had a 3 step I used as a 2 step. 418 cu in 351W w/ 13.2:1 Compression, C4 w/ Brake, 5500 RPM Stall, 4.88 Gears with a 3000 RPM Launch Chip & 8000 RPM Limiter Chip.

It goes against everything you know the first time you roll in and push the Trans Brake Button and take your foot off the brake pedal while pushing the go pedal to the floor. But when you let go of the button holy someone hit me in the back of the head with a baseball bat
