Lots of oil in catch can
Hi folks! Recently installed an Elite Engineering catch can on my LS3 Camaro SS. I installed it about 750 miles ago and it looks like there's already about 130 ml (in the neighborhood of 4.5 oz). This seems like a lot compared to what other folks have been saying they get in theirs. I haven't tracked the car at all and I typically don't go WOT and really only drive mildly aggressively.
The car is essentially stock other than exhaust and cold air intake, plus it only has 15,000 miles. My first thought is that I may have excessive crankcase pressure from worn piston rings but I would be pretty surprised at that on such a low mileage car. I check oil pretty diligently and I have not lost any as far as I can tell from the dipstick (I last changed it about 1200 miles ago). Any help would be appreciated - thanks again! |

Find info about the oil valley pan. Could be your culprit.

I also take a lot of short trips to work and it's been cold a lot since install - maybe there's more blowby/mile on short trips because of piston/cylinder fitment until it's up to temp?

Short trips cause more condensation to collect in the oil.
