Can someone describe the difference between L99 and LS3? Are there more differences than AFM?

I wonder what the fuel economy is for a 6sp manual SS. The quoted figures are for the 6sp auto with AFM L99 engine.

The L99 was designed to be mated to a 6 speed auto tranny

the LS3 is a 6.2L 8cyl matted to a 6 speed manual

HIDs are part of the RS package, not the LT model.

A GM artist rendering on Autoblog shows the ambient lighting in blue, so it may indeed be adjustable.

Both are the 6.2 engine, the afm requires a milder camshaft and lifters are different; - less hp.

darn I hope you can get a v6 with a limited slip.

all in all a major dissapointment for me. 3860 lbs for the SS manual and only a measly 23mpg hwy! the last generation car is more economical! and notice in the press release where it says opt for the automatice to acheave 23mpg which leads me to beleave that the manual might be less. I saw that the 4th gen was rated at 28 mpg hwy

so the leasson here is save 20k and buy a 4th gen if you love camaros because this is just a overweight pretty looking pig

Automobile mag has an interview with Cheryl Pilcher. Adds some additional info to what we already know.

http://www.automobilemag.com/new_and...wer/index.html

CP: "One of the really cool things on the interior is, when you start the car, the sequence of lighting and the instrument cluster gauges are all illuminated in a cool kind of a way. There is a light ring that goes around the actual tachometer and speedometer. Additionally, on cars with a leather interior, there is what we call a two-inch ambient lighting LED pipe that goes across the instrument panel and then also goes into the door trim on each side. It's very similar to what was in the concept car. It will have ice blue lighting, and we have a special inferno orange accent package with orange seat inserts and orange-red ambient light.
