More confused! Headers question

My 2011 Camaro SS is getting TSP 1 7/8 headers with high flow cats on next month! My question is what to do from there. I have flow master exhaust on now. The shop is telling me that this exhaust will make the car very loud with headers. I don’t want it crazy loud! They recommended finding a factory exhaust and mufflers to put back on. Thoughts??? Of course I will get it tuned by them as well. Any information appreciated!!

Flow Masters typically drone a lot. But figure it ou, the headers will increase sound but what I found it isn't drastic until you get on it.

Good luck!

I dont think it will be that much louder with adding headers, now if you were adding a big cam also then that would be different story!

Wait until you have the headers and then drive it a bit. If it's too loud, do an axle back. You don't need to replace the entire exhaust to reduce the sound level. A lot of the cars that you think sound good are probably running very open exhaust, so you might just like it.

Agreed. Dont spend money until you actually know you dont like it. I love my headers and Borla Atak, im sure im gonna love my headers and corsa xtreme when I put it on this weekend. Make a decision after you hear it, you may just love it. Everyone has a different optinion on whats "too loud"

The high flow cats definitely help with the exhaust noise. When I had the full TSP exhaust it was fairly quiet until you really floored it.

Personally, I'm a BIG fan of Solo Performance and their exhaust. Zero drone, great muscle car sounds, and not obnoxious when you're idling yet loud as hell when you're wide open throttle.

Agreed with the above. Don't spend any money until you hear it and decide what you don't like about it. With the HFC's it will help cut down some of the sound. When we did my LT's it made it about 40% louder, but I had off road mids, no cats, also had the Flowmaster 3 inch ZL1 Outlaw catback on it, it sounded great, but DRONED LIKE HELL!! If that's the case you can always do an axle back, or just replace the mufflers. I tried about 8 different setups on mine trying to get what I wanted, ended up with the Corsa 3 inch ZL1 Sport catback, LOVE it! NO drone at cruising, great idle sound, and going up through the gears, but loud as heck at WOT!! Best of both worlds!! Expensive, but worth every penny. Good luck sir!

You will get alot louder with headers. Best thing to do is just do it .drive and see how it is. You may like the sound level.

If the noise is a concern, going back to the factory exhaust and mufflers might be a solid move. Just have a chat with the shop and make sure they tune it up properly.

One of my Camaro buds has LT's, HFC's and the stock system/mufflers and it does sound pretty nice!!

I have come across some in the for sale section, keep an eye out there, or your local bone yard. You just need the mufflers.
