Reduced Power message due to too many codes
I've been having a problem with my 2010 RS for the past 4 weeks and have taken it to get serviced 4 times already.
When driving (usually when accelerating) I'll get a "Service Stabilitrack" followed by "Service Parking Assist" followed by the check engine light. Then I get "Reduced engine output" and the car will sputter and almost stall as it tries to shift gears. I was told the car is throwing out so many codes the "internal computer" is overwhlemed and cannot focus on shifting gears. Consequently I'll be nearly flooring it, but going only 45mph with 7000rpm as the car has difficutly shifting gears. Has this happened to anyone else? The Service Depatment guys have called GM tech support and apparently this problem hasn't been reported. Worst of all, it happens sporadically, so unless they can get the car to reproduce the same issues (which they haven't been able to do despite putting about 200miles on my car) they say they can't fix it, because there are too many codes and they can't tell which one is the actual problem. Any suggestions? |

the VERY NEXT TIME it happens, when the dealership is open......drive the car directly there....and whatever you do....DO NOT SHUT IT OFF, get the service department to see it first hand. seeing as how you hve had it in for the same thing 4 times.....its time to be thinking LEMON LAW.

Thank you Sir Nuke,
Unfortunately that's exactly what I did this last time. I drove straight to the dealership (I did have to turn off the car when the police officer stopped me for speeding, trying to get to the dealership before it closed). I got my vehicle in VA and the lemon laws there expire within 18 months of purchasing the vehicle. Maybe GM will still honor the lemon laws though. |

what codes are setting? Its not shifting right because its in reduced engine power. Ask the dealer what codes did it set last time it was in. Doesnt matter if you shut it off or not, codes are stored in history.
