That's so you don't open it on accident. Like the brand new 2010 Mustang.
On the Mustang forums people are complaining about the position of the button and that it opens while they are driving. |

Make sure you give the Trunk a good closing. The Camaro can handle it. If you don't the lock mechanism will be off track.

WD40 is probably to thin an oil for the latch. It should have a little heavy grease from the factory already.

Is there any adjusting screws for the latch loop or the hook mechanism? If so re-adjust.

try wd40 or lithium greese then write back

Mine started doing that yesterday. Have had it for 1 weeks. VIN# 7108. Will try grease and let you guys know also.

Seems to be a common problem... mine did the same thing too.
Once I got it open, I made it do some opening "aerobics" over and over to get it going. Hasnt happened again... so far |

If someone plays with the emergency trunk release, glow in the dark, the trunk will not release, you have to crawl in through back seat, pull release and open, also have been having same problem as the others here, will try the lube.
