Pricing of V8 Camaros

I am going to try and generate the most accurate price estimate of the new Camaro. The first is for the price of the entry V8, the one that will compete with the Mustang GT and the Challenger R/T, which will have something around 350-400 hp. The second is for the price of the top V8, the one that will compete with the Challenger SRT8, and will have something 420 - 500 hp. If you think that the hp numbers are off, thats ok. Its about the relative pricing of them, not their power. If you think that the base V8 will be the 430 hp LS3, then vote for the price, not the power. Oh, and please only select 1 option per trim, otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose. Additionally, this is for the starting price for that particular engine, as there is no decent information regarding options.

I want to see what you think it will cost, not what you want it to cost. I want it to be sold for $0.01, but it ain't gonna happen that way. Periodically I will edit this post and give the average price that is generated, just so nobody will need to do the math. My personal estimates are $28 500 and $36 000

Current Averages: $28 400.99 Base, $35 977.85 Top

We can only hope for a V-8 Camaro for under 30K. I think they will start a little more than that.

Base level will have to be under $30k to compete, IMHO.

But of course no one on these boards will get off that cheap cause the price will jump as soon as you start adding even the most basic of bells and whistles.

Crap, I clicked vote before I could choose my top V8(I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to computers! ) which was 36,500-37,999. For base I put 30,500-32,00 but I hope in reality its less!

I selected $26K for the "base" and $36K for the "top." I think that $26K is a little optimistic, but I was thinking more along the lines of a stripper 1LE-type model. I figured $36K for the top of the line with similar rational, although, I'm sure GM will make the top V8 more of a package deal (i.e. fully optioned.) If I have the money, I'd pay more, but I think $40K is pushing it.

Are theses price guesses supposed to be of the BASE price of each model? Or say, like a middle ground?

Basically - extra bells and whistles, or no?

No options, just the 'starting at' price. Its hard enough to guess what the engine will be, let alone what sort of nifty features will be there, how many there are, and a price for them. You can create a thread like that if you want.

And SoFlaZ, I have included your missed vote in the averages. Its just an excel file that computes a weighted average and I included a note to always add 1 vote to the 36 500 - 37 999.

yes and no. The base V8 has over half the votes between 28 000 and 30 500. thats fairly narrow. The top has a bit more even spread, but some are probably thinking of an LS3 powered car, others are probably thinking of a 500 hp Super Beast. But still, about 30% of the votes for the Top Camaro (SS?) are in the 35 000 - 36 500 range.

My belief is that the top V8 pkg is going to go for around 40,000 - 42,000

I think GM will try hard to get a V8 to at least start under $30K. They did it with the G8. Its just a good psychological/marketing thing.
