Vinyl on horn peeling?

Hey everybody! I was driving my car around the other day when I noticed some bubbling on the top left corner of my airbag. Has anybody experienced this or a similar issue before? Would something like this be covered under any active warranty? (Bumper to bumper expired.) lastly, what would be a good way to fix this? Assuming warranty won’t cover something like this?

Are you using snake oil cleaning products, like Armor All?

Not Armor All. Only products I’ve been using since day 1 is Adams Polishes.

Might be a warranty issue. Take it to the dealership and let them check it and it maybe replaced. I definitely wouldn’t want to screw around with the airbags.

Definitely a warranty issue if your still within bumper to bumper, otherwise find some adhesive to glue it down and reduce the exposure to UV to mitigate future peeling.

You can try warranty, but I’d say no. Looks like you have an accompanying chunk of vinyl missing near the aluminum too. The leads me to believe this is wear or damage based on driving style. All the damage is on the left side, do you (or perhaps the previous owner) rest your ring finger in there?

You should not have to mess with the air bag to replace it. The only reason that cover is there is you don’t have to look at the ugly bag.

OP said B2B expired.

There are some good adhesives that should work just fine.

Actually that’s how I got the car brand new. But I mostly rest my hands on 9 & 3. Or down on 5 & 7 when I’m driving low key.

It’s always after the B2B expires everything starts to go crazy lol.

Do you happen to have any sort of adhesive recommendation for something like this?

I would try to file a warranty claim first. You never know if you don’t try.

I would go with something that cures compliant.

If I had that problem I might try Shoe Goo. A little dab under the area, wet it out real good and tape it until cured. Biggest issue with any adhesive is you have to get it to the appearance you want before it cures. Otherwise you might have a bump that you find more offensive than the peeled edge.

This area should have zero impact on airbag performance. You aren't near the tear seam so just tweaking the edge of the horn pad should be ok IMO.

You could check with the dealer. There may be a service bulletin.
